Music can trigger mobile malware: research

Ok, so the malware now uses the sensors (be it light, sound or vibration) as triggers. What does that change to the fact that the malware is already on your phone? Surely you have to have the malware before it can be triggered?

Sensationalist journalism.

Any program on your phone can trigger from sound or light, and so can a malicious program. This article is saying that a sensor can invoke an event, nothing more.

Music still can't install malware on your device, so what's the issue with "Securing traditional communication channels" ?

If I were to write some malware, I'd most certainly use something more certain than just sound as a trigger.

Useless information. Also no link to source study. MyBB is the only tech site I know of that does not link to a company's site or even a simple study as is the case here.

The article does mention that the malware has to already be on the device.
The are just triggering it using "new" methods.
Like an old Columbo episode I once saw, dogs were trained to kill when their owner said "kiss".
Scared the **** out of Columbo when the owner said "kill" and the dogs wanted to play.
Point is that if you want to trigger something, you can use any method to act as a trigger, as long as the reciever can understand the trigger. The reciever has to be appropriately programmed beforehand.
