My Spotify Trail is about to end and would like to know what others have experienced.
I have used Deezer but that has become problematic with payments.

The question is to stay with Spotify or not.

I just came across Spotify two weeks back - I'm loving it. Knows me so well and I love music. Perfect Match

I'm with Google Play music - family plan.
I am willing to try Spotify when they come out with a similar plan... but not before.

Any reason why Apple Music isn't on your list? Just asking as i've been using it (on Android) as part of a family plan as well and love it.

I haven't tried any of the others so can't comment.

But loving Spotify. A week into my trial I knew it was going to stay.

First thing that gets started up at night when I get home. Last thing to be shut down when going to bed.

Don't like it, specially trying to use it on Android

The Apple Music app on Android is terrible when I used it on my LG G3, always had issues.
But AM on apple devices is a pleasure, actually they all work well on IOS I feel.

Spotify Free is always still available to you....it's why I would never bother paying for it.

Apple Music all the way.

There's no right answer when it comes to which music streaming service to choose.

Apple Music: Has family plan, twice the upload allowance of GPM, much more reliable uploading via iTunes and by far the best library management of them all. Audio quality might be the best too despite the 256~Kbps bitrate, but that's my subjective opinion (not that a lot of this isn't too). Curated playlists are available but mostly aren't good. Auto stations are dreadful - broken even. Definitely a service for musical 'hoarders' rather than 'nomads'.

Play Music: Also has family plan, pretty good upload allowance, the best auto stations and the best Android integration. Can be laggy on iOS. Hardly any curated playlists. Will eventually become YouTube Music, which will have by far the largest catalogue and remove ads from YouTube on all your devices. A very good middle-of-the-road option that should appeal to most users.

Spotify: No family plan in SA yet, and doesn't allow for uploads. Auto stations aren't bad, but not close to GPM. Desktop app leaves a lot to be desired, as does the web app. However, the curated playlist selection is vast and epically awesome. Discover Weekly and Release Radar, which are personalised for you and update on Mondays and Fridays respectively, are legendary for how great they are.

Deezer, Simfy etc.: No. Why bother. They may not be godawful, but the competition is better at the same price.

These days I find the opposite is true. I think the Android app (since the major refresh a few months after its release) has a very user-friendly design and packs loads of features. It is a little sluggish in terms of responsiveness, but it's not a huge deal. On the other hand, the Music app for iOS really sucks imo. The layout is nonsensical and my folks, both of whom rely heavily on their iPad, struggle constantly while navigating it.

Apple Music would be awful for many people. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone without getting a feel for their needs.

I use both Spotify and GPM- the latter on family plan. Wish Spotify had that. The main reason for using Spotify was the incompatibility between Huawei and GPM and Android Auto- which has been since been resolved it seems. Turns out though, I rather like Spotify. I'm not sure I want to use just one though, although I now rarely use GPM.

Why though?

You don’t elaborate.

It covers all the bases and more so than Spotify.

Family plan, Offline and own media upload. What more could you want?

Good curated playlists and auto stations? Basically, what people use to discover new music. It's not good that Apple Music sucks at that stuff. As I mentioned above, GPM is probably more to most people's liking as a middle-ground between Apple Music and Spotify. It's excellent for music discovery, will include YouTube Red benefits at some point, has the family plan, is lightning fast on Android which most people use and also allows uploads.

Not sure why you'd think I didn't elaborate. The post content above the reply to you was pretty detailed.

Sorry only read the part quoted to my own post.

I’ve often heard this “discovery” story and how Apple Music sucks at it...however I’ve discovered plenty of music using it so it just hasn’t been my experience.

Spotify which is allegedly so much better at it I also just haven’t experienced as the marvel people claim it to be.

Is it maybe a 10% difference that people woefully overplay when making lists of feature comparisons, and not really all that much of an issue in real world usage?

No, it's a big issue. No one is claiming music discovery doesn't occur on Apple Music. The issue is the rate that it occurs. I discover more music on Spotify in a day than I used to in a month with Apple Music. I still have AM in fact from a family sub, and check it out now and again to see if things have improved. The last time I checked was quite recently, and just like old times the curated playlists were garbage, the personalised playlists relied far too heavily on music already in my library and the auto stations were bad to the point of being broken.

If you found Spotify only slightly better then perhaps you had only used Spotify for like a day or something and it hadn't learned from your listening habits. There is an interstellar gulf between the services in this respect imo. You give up a lot of features as a Spotify user, but I'm happy to do so in exchange for the incredible music discovery.

Love the integration of Spotify, it's everywhere. PS4, smart TV's etc, it's their second biggest pro. Sadly Apple Music lacks this and I wish would adobt it(probably won't).

I'm on the Apple Music family plan. As most have said Spotify needs to add this (Family Plan) to SA and then because of their integration on most platforms I'll go over.
