Fleshgod on their new album are combining orchestral symphonies with technical death metal. Completely different to anything else out there and I'm so glad they're doing it well.

I find their sound very "processed" sounding. Hard to describe, but I struggle to connect with it.

I get what you're saying. I think it happens when bands try to perfect their album too much and they sort of over think everything. Take a listen to the new upcoming album Agony if you haven't already.. there are a few songs on YouTube.
 
Why would bands remix their old songs? I was listening to some new Depeche Mode remixes and it totally sounds crap when they add Dub version remixes to a good song.
