Musicians' thread.

To the drummers in here. I just got a second hand Premier Olympic 2 for a bargain price as well as it was barely used. I got some rings to try dampen the resonance and give it a more metal sound but lets face it, those heads are cheap. I'm looking at getting a set of Evans Onyx heads. Anyone got any advice or a better suggestion before I start dishing out the cash?
 
New local community radio station, Radio Kaapse Punt had me over for a chat on Saturday. They're looking to expose local music and help Muso's out. Heard my song 'Carey-Ann' on air for the first time this morning. :)

Pretty cool thing that, played with one on display at turks music. Would have liked if it had a 3rd VCO and it to be more modular but it's a nice synth.

We're running 16 channels currently using the pro 40 and octopre addon. I'll never choose another brand apart from focusrite for interfaces.

Well yeah, but it's a re-issue of the original so they weren't going to add any more features. Still, the filters and oscs sound amazing, it's plenty phat, quirky, just FUN.

Processing external sounds with it is amazing.

Nah, couldn't afford Ultimate and I didn't see the value in all the extra sample material.
Alicia Keys would have been nice but I am pretty stocked with sound for the foreseeable future.

I had K5, hence the upgrade.
It's going to be nice to have the absynth and Kontakt updates,

Yeah, I was just very lucky - A kind forumite ended up with a version of Guitar Rig which I got given, with which I was able to upgrade to Komplete 8 at half price, and then a couple months later I got the upgrade to Ultimate for half price again, so essentially paid the Komplete 8 price for Ultimate.

Only thing that I am annoyed about is that I bought Damage in the meantime, and it's included in K9 Ultimate, but I can probably sell that for a bit when the time comes...
 
Not a bad idea.
Sale time comes along and you'll have an Ultimate update for cheap.

The hard drive looks awesome, machined aluminium I think. I wonder if there is a way to unlock it to use as a normal drive when you upgrade...
 
You will be able to for sure.
It's the same with Autodesk products.

Unlock, format and enjoy :D
 
NI always release a bunch of stuff after the latest komplete comes out. You just have to hold off until the next one. Such is the NI pyramid scheme :p

I have Komplete 9 Ultimate, yeah the HDD isn't locked as far as I saw. I was a little surprised they left it read+write, it's quite easy for a n00b to just wipe the HDD or mess up the installation files. I've backed mine up, of course.

It's the best sounding brushed metal HDD caddy I own!
