Musicians' thread.

Audio / analog is a full time hobby, I’ve had to put one side . But when I “retire” one day I’m gonna build a studio, lock the doors, and take every class A substance known to mankind

And die while the craziest patch is looping in the studio.

This just arrived

More international bands to add to the list

Across the 4 promo channels we had upload our new track, we’ve broken 5700 views within a week. If you’re in CPT and are keen to watch us, we have an EP launch on July 13th at Mercury. There’s more details on our Facebook page

Cool. I'm not going to comment on the video itself.

The 80's and 90's music is by far my favourite era of music.

If I listen to the song without watching the video, I get a bit of a Skid Row, Whitesnake kind of vibe, which surprised me a little. It is a catchy tune, and everything sounds tight.

But, the mix is very flat in my opinion.

The vocalist has a good voice - definitely a better voice than what is heard in that song, but the vocals almost seems very levelled, suppressed, either by the way the song was mixed, or the vocalist needs to channel his inner Sebastian Bach and go for it.

As I'm a bass player myself, I'm going to have to hold myself back here:)

The bass is the foundation of any rock song / ballad, hell, the bass is the foundation of everything. Whether you're a compulsive but brilliant over-player like Gary Thain, or a pioneer lead bass player like Steve Harris, it needs to be more prominent in parts of the song.

The bass in the song is not bad, but it sounds like a typical P-Bass with flats mixed to blend evenly into the song without anyone noticing it's there. No. Hell no. That bass is not nearly chunky enough, it needs to be heard. Most of the 80's and 90's power ballad type songs are played in some form of Major / Minor Pentatonic pattern. There is so much more your bass player can do with that.

Overall, I liked the song, but the sound needs something. If you listen to some of the hits from that era, you will hear that they were not conservative with their sound. It was in your face, whether you wanted it or not. Listen to the mix of 18 and Life by Skid Row - it is a similar song to yours, but listen to every instrument and the vocals. That is the kind of sound you should aim for in my opinion.

You guys are good, solid and in the pocket, but from a sound point of view, imho, you need to be more confident and daring. \m/
