I wish we had a decent E-Bay section like in the UK.
So many ppl I know are picking up dirt cheap synths everyday.

I'd really like to walk into a store and play with one of the Elektron boxes - maybe the A4...just to see what they're all about. Never seen em here tho, and even if I did they'd cost a fortune. I'd like to get a groovebox / sequencer and maybe another synth and have it all running independent of my pc & DAW so I can have a quick jam in the mornings or whatever without having to switch my pc on. Stuff shows up too rarely on gumtree.

What's your setup like @Electric?

So guys, is there no forum like carbonite or avforums, but for muso's?

I would really like to try my hand at some synths, and i know there are guys out there who have the stuff lying around collecting dust.

Gear is just too pricey here in SA and as there is no real competition, you can see one retailer selling a product with a markup of 15 - 20% more than another.

I would love to try a Novation Bassstation II and a MS-20, but not at the prices out there.

It is also very difficult to resell.

Maybe we should start a forums amongst us?
 
My setup isn't even worth discussing.
I am entirely using softsynths at the moment.
With a ESI NEON midi controller.

I would love to own hardware but have neither the space nor the money at the moment.
My son just started high school as well so might as well forget about hardware.
I wouldn't mind a xoxbox or similar to play with but I'm fairly happy with what I have.
 
I just realized I have 500 points to spend in the IK Custom Shop.

That's almost 5K worth, wtf.

My thoughts are either Amplitube 3 and T-RackS Deluxe, or T-RackS Grand. Perhaps Amplitube 3 and CSR - Classik Studio Reverb, although I wonder if CSR is worth it? I don't really have any nice algorithmic 'verbs (although I do want Valhalladsp's stuff at some stage...)

Not sure though if Amplitube is worth it... I already have all the free sims, etc, which are fantastic, as well as Recabinet + Guitar Rig 5. Do I really need more guitar stuff? Do I need T-Racks Grand? Lots of good stuff in there, and worth a ****load of real money, but will I really use it all?

Don't suppose you can buy some stuff and sell the it again to someone else? I'd rather have the money for a decent VST(i) than a load of stuff I don't really need. I take it you record a lot of guitar?

I'm not recording much of anything at the moment. :(

What I would love to do, if possible, is get the T-Racks grand, sell it, and put that money towards an upgrade to K9 Ultimate. I am just not sure what the chances of selling it are though.

I don't really need Amplitube on some reflection, as the free amp sims are superior to the commercial ones for the most part.

Well, 125 of my points are going to acquiring Amplitube 3. That's half price Amplitube + Amplitube Orange for free, and the group buy is sure to hit +2 soon.

Guitar Rig is really not that great for guitar. It's much better as an FX rack, really.

The amps can be okay when run through external cabs (I use Recabinet), but the cab sims in GR are really not too good.

Currently messing around with the Orange Amps in Amplitube, absolutely ****ing heavenly!
 
My rig consists of the following: Ibanez JEM signature series, Marshall JVM410H Joe Satriani Signature amp, Eleven Rack (FX processor + Audio interface)
