Yes, mad pricing.
We are in a terrible country for hardware.

The only hardware I get to touch is my morning semi.

I've had pretty decent prices for my controllers, however when it comes to Roland/Yamaha/DSI the prices seem to be inflated so much at the store.

For example Novation Launchpad when it cost $200 could be picked up at Marshalls for R2000 (the intl price dropped recently)
The Bass Station II goes for $500 but can be grabbed for R5700 in store, I think those prices are fair.

However now I am in the market for the Roland TR-8 and I'm being quoted R9 899 for a $500 drum sequencer

I think you are at the mercy of the official distributor unless you ship the goods yourself

I can all of it overseas and get it shipped here, still not cheap by any means though.
I'd be far happier if we had ebay hardware areas like in the UK and US.

I'll be playing with fire this week. I've found a guy selling an Impulse 49 key in CT for a good price. He swears to me its in 100% working order. My heart says go for it but my brain is not too keen.

For those in Cape Town, Paul Bothners is having a Fastest Hands competition for Drum Month.

Single strokes for 60 seconds!

I tried today:

Any Beardyman fans? It's nice to see an interview with him where he's just chilling out talking his mind rather than doing his crazy :). Real nice dude it seems and I enjoyed his insights on a few things...kinda encouraged me with my music and other stuff too.

I've been in a musical slump for many months now.

I just have not been able to find the motivation to play guitar and/or fiddle with DAWS.

Trying to make an effort now to at least practice guitar every day, even if it's just half an hour of chromatic scales.

Anyone have any advice for getting out of this way of thinking? I want to be excited by the art of music again, but I just can't figure out how.

Do something totally different than normal?
