Musicians' thread.

Nobody want to sell some synths over the xmas season? That dusty thing with all the knobs that you never use...come on...put it up in classifieds :D.

Get yer paws away from my synths :)
Don't be like that it's the season of giving or something like that, right?.:D Sigh. I'm hoping there's a few good deals on gumtree as people flog gear to buy other stuff. What do you have btw?

Join the Facebook group called "Musician Traders (SA)" and "S.A. MUSIC STORE" and ask around there, lots of gear gets traded/sold etc - mostly guitars but maybe you'll find someone with what you're looking for :)

Just be careful with regards to vintage synths etc - they can be costly to repair and maintain when something eventually fails. I recently got rid of two Korg Delta synths (late 70s/early 80s production) because I got fed up trying to find a tech and some components, like the osc chips etc can be a PITA to source and expensive to buy.

You should consider investing in something new if you want a analogue synth Arturia Minibrute, Korg MS20 Mini, Elektron Analogue 4, Moog Sub Phatty, various lovely options by DSI too. Depends on your wallet, of course!

Hi guys, I'm looking to start learning how to play the acoustic guitar. Any recommended things I can do to practice those awkward finger positions?

Also, any begginer tutorial you can recommend?

Go get yourself Rocksmith, I have an electric acoustic and play Rocksmith with it but I like it better with my electric. It's lots of fun and you learn how to play super fast

Awesome, glad you've noticed it now!

It's been awhile for me - Need to try and find a bit of creativity inside myself again.

Can't believe I didn't see this thread though. I've been playing drums for 8 years now, and 7 of those years have been spent playing live shows and sitting in studios. I currently play for a band called Betray The Emissary, and I've got a few drum covers up on Youtube.

Currently playing on a Pearl Export which came as a 6-piece (extra 10" tom) but I use it as a 4-piece with the 12" tom and 16" floor tom. I'm endorsed by Zildjian so I've got full Zildjian A Customs all round, and I use the Pearl Maple Free Floating snare and the Pearl Demon Drive double pedal.

Also picked up a Roland TD-9 electric kit which is useful for home practice without pissing off the neighbours. Hope to hear from the other drummers here!

Got a few other drum covers as well but I'm limited to how many I can post at a time :p

Nice. Reminds me I should also start making more tunes now that winter hibernation mode has been activated :).

Your (copacetic) site doesn't seem to load btw :(.

It does, eventually... There's nothing to it, as of yet though - Need to figure out how to actually do web design, which is a complete mystery to me currently. :D

Ah thanks man! :3

You've reached a level of mastery I'm sure you are proud of. I really hope I can find the energy and time to improve my guitar playing.

Find a good instructor. You stay in Kempton Park right? If traveling to the East Rand Mall is not an issue I can recommend someone.

It took a good few years but yes, I am proud. :p You should definitely keep up playing guitar. That's one instrument I'd love to learn to play but I am way too impatient.

For anyone interested, here's a playthrough of one of my band's songs:
