Musicians' thread.

Ya, seen reviews on both. But getting opinions from other muso's can shed light; ie feeling of an amp or durability of the amp sound over time, which you may not get from a review.

Vox are really not known for being jazz amps or having that clean jazz tone. They're more famous for the gritty, toppy, crunchy tone that vox (actually owned by korg) does so well. If you're going to need clean tones as well as an amp you can drive I'd suggest taking a look at the fender supersonic or deluxe. These are both excellent american made amps witha wide tonal range. If you're really set on vox I'd go with the night train which is capable of reasonable clean tones and one of the better built of the modern vox (made in china) amps. Also if you use humbuckers the voxes will be even more likely to tend towards crunch. I have a friend who works at a music store who tells me vox amps get returned for repairs all the time. I can vouch for the fenders being built like tanks.

All that said, I suggest going to your local and spending a day trying amps out. Buying an amp is a very personal thing and no amount of reviews and demos can beat trying them out yourself.

This track is probably a year (or going 2 years) old. Decided to gave give it a quick sweep and post it up. The song is a interpretation of Aaliyah's - Age Ain't Nothing But A Number, some of my friends have heard the song and say it's very dark. There was some audio-loss converting it into a mp3 which you might hear half way.

I'm gonna try make an AMV for this song (hopefully when I post it up youtube won't take it down). I was going to do a AMV for another song but I'm having such a difficult time mixing it. This track right here I was 'mixing' and adjusting everything as I was creating the track but for this one (a bit outdated from what I'm working with) this mixing (or my attempt) is being done at the end.

I'm shyt

So I tried to make AMV of the song posted above but when I was trying to make it the video and music where just difficult at times to match that I only got about 30 secs of footage done. But while I was spending Christmas with relatives (maybe something I will rant about in the Christmas thread), I thought of a Bjork song to put on to the visual I was working on, so not all is lost. Will hopefully get back to music after I'm done with it.

So I'm thinking of starting to play bass guitar just to get into a band quickly. Reason being that it's easier to learn and there not so much pressure performing on stage. Another plus is there is lots of bands looking for bass players.

What do you think?

You think the bass dude has no pressure?

Tell that to Les Claypool. :D

Busy messing about with a program called MAGIX Music Maker Premium. It has hundreds of instruments and seems you can compile an entire song. Only got a basic metal beat with bass guitar going atm but once I got a piece together I'll post it on youtube. Awesome program, highly recommend!

Watched a demo on youtube - looks like a cross between Band in a Box / Fruityloops, nice for backing tracks IMO but I couldn't see myself composing or wanting to use their pre-made loops. Handy tool for jamming though!

It seems that way yes, mostly pre-made tracks etc but hoping to record a lead/guitar piece and integrate it somehow, eventually put it all together. It's a start. The drum sets are mostly what I'm after to jam too :)

Nice!

What sorta music do you play/listen to?

Had that on PC once, didn't use it much, it seemed similar to the products made by eJay

Mostly rock n metal. I'm primarily a lead guitarist so get a lot of inspiration from Buckethead and Joe Satriani. Thing with Joe as you know is he plays bass and drums too, gets a foundation going and adds the lead in afterward, kinda what I'm aiming for. I'm only in the baby stages as far as the technology goes but yeah we'll see what happens.

Great track this, just a basic beat with some bass :)

Since I mixed the song and did some touches here and there, the song on soundcloud is old, I'll update it later tonight or tomorrow.
