Musicians' thread.

I have a load songs which I have been listening too back when I was fully concentrated to just music some which where will are still a work in progress, will try remember to post some tomorrow.

Hey folks, posting in thread after someone referred me to it:

I did post a song about 4 months ago that was fairly morose, very electronic. The response was to a certain degree not very positive. Alas yesterday a posted another song in a new thread and, like I said, got referred to this one. Please excuse the quote, but it does put forward my take on the track/situation.

Hi guys.

A few months ago I posted a song I made and in that very thread I went on about the fact that I am self-taught; had to learn making songs by experimenting etc etc. I also elaborated that I cannot read or write music, nor play an instrument.

However, once again, I would like some feedback. ANYTHING. If you like it (I doubt it, yes I am an optimist), say so. If you hate it, voice it. Give me criticism, opinions, advice, even an insouciant remark would be appreciated. For years and years I have been experimenting, and now I have reached a point where I need to hear what others feel about my creations.

Just note two things:

  • I use soundfonts for the guitars, so they do sound quite fake at times
  • I cannot sing for ****z0r. So I tend to speak the lyrics rather than sing, and, again, it really sounds horrible (my opinion).

Otherwise, if at all possible, enjoy it.

Hey sour.

I'm listening on really crappy speakers, so I can't comment on the actual production of your song, but it sounded good to me. The guitar didn't sound too terrible for soundfonts either, why don't you play a real guitar though? So much better! :D

As for the singing, are you sure you cannot sing? You had some nice melodic parts in there, so you should aim to get the vocals doing cool melodic stuff the whole way through, I think.

I liked the drumming, was it programmed in?

What software do you use?

Thanks for sharing.

Hey hey.

Well, I have to be honest, I would love to play the guitar. Alas, with so many time constraints (and maybe a dash of will-power) it is just not feasible at this point in time. Besides, if I could, I would rather play the piano. Although I do try and play someting on the piano sometimes, but all those melodies are done by the 'feel' of it.

Singing is a huge issue for me. Since I just cannot do it. A small number of folks have heard me sing and the general consensus is; "just don't".

And the drums are a different beat loops sliced and diced and strung together using mostly FL. In fact the entire song is done by using Reason and FL 9, so no real intruments were used. Thanks for the comment.

What you think of my friends band :D

Maybe by the end of the year I would like to treat myself to some new equipment (got to start saving up), I was thinking of finally getting some new reference monitors after my last pair stopped working like 3 years ago :( and also getting a new midi keyboard with a trigger pad (or maybe a whole trigger pad /drum machine). Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, has anybody bought equipment from Amazon UK? How was the price compared to local stores including import tax, as I see Amazon extended the free delivery special.
