Musicians' thread.

So I was trawling through all my old projects (most of which are unfinished trance/electro tunes) and thought I'd make an MP3 with some clips and see if anyone thinks they're worth finishing

Some of them are just me messing around with other tracks to see if I could remix them and some are complete but need some serious reworking
The only one that sounds more or less professional is the last track Genesys

So let's hear what the other MyBB musos have lurking in their project folders!

About 15 gigs of crap. :o

Most of it MIDI based.

Downloading your MP3

If music is your #1 job, then it will be done. I have so many songs which I have started but can't finish due to other things , I'm especially fuming now that I haven't had time to finish my take on Bitter Sweet Symphony.

If I can ever say it is, I'll be the happiest guy in the world.

I find I forget songs pretty quick. I realize months later when I hear a song and say hey I used to play that!! Does this happen to everyone? Think I need to sit and make a song list or something.

Currently am still trying to nail constant motion by DT, the last quarter of the lead break kills me every time :( it is a song I just can't put down when I am so close but I just can't break that final speed and accuracy barrier :o

Back to the metronome I go :D

Seventhson, listening now.

Where are the drums coming from?

You play music that is totally unfamiliar to me lol, sounds like great fun to play. :D

When it comes to rhythm guitars, I can strongly recommend hard panning left and right, and recording the parts on each side at least once, if not twice. It will sound AWESOME.

Lol I actually forgot about that with this cut. I have since edited it. Just still getting used to the new reaper:)
And thanks man.

Oh awesome. Using the default skin and stuff? I can send you my config file if you like, it'll make your Reaper kickass. :D

Let me know if I pull off Porcupine Tree ok? :o

Sorry about poor quality hope you can hear me above the background, I have nothing but a cheap PC mic and little amp :) I sang first two verses and chorus only, did not sing last bit, and played throughout although it's not entire track.

That is such a ****ing cool song.

You sound good man.

Steven Wilson is definitely not someone I could sing along with.

Greetings guys, thanks copacetic for starting this thread... I used to play alot more than I do now - the joys of having kids... but I play Clarinet, Sax, Guitar - mainly accoustic, and of course the MP3 player like the rest of you...

I have a q for the drummers in here - I want to get my son a set, he's 13, turning 14 this year and I'd like to get him something that will last but I can't afford more than R5500. Is it really worthwhile getting a serious brand name, or should I aim at a good condition second hand no-name that's full size so he can decide if it's what he likes? He may not take to it, but of course I have my own motives for getting them ;)
I have a seperate studio now so we can jam without disturbing the neighbours which is a good thing, I just can't move the freaking piano in there, although perhaps I should consider giving it a permanent home there too...
Who else out there drums (not talking rock band for Wii here :) )?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Go for something second hand, it will always be the best value. I have played with some awesome drummers over the years and they always told me that they put most of their money into good cymbals etc, the kits themselves werent as much of an issue. I dont even know what kits cost second hand these days but you should be able to pick up something with an average name in that price range.
