Man, this company is really starting to go the way of the Dodo...

Just received a notification from Multichoice that they will no longer accept debit orders lodged on a credit card, although this has been working flawlessly for the past 15 years I have been with them.

In spite of the ever-increasing repeats schedule, the technical faults with their PVRs, low-quality programming and general incompetence, I have stayed with them. Now, a few days after they raised their prices, they decide to go and do this.

Really Multichoice, why are you burdening your customers even more? Do you want them to see it as a privelege to be able to pay you for the sewage you are pumping out?

Lucky for your most of them will never get the chance to see what Satellite TV is like in the developed world, in order to realise just how backwards your 'service' really is.

Hey Rr! I rememba how lekker mnets movies were in da beginning, just off the big screen and they got it on the small screen. I cant recall the last time i have watched a movie on dstv. And the compression on the travel cannel is pathetic, if something moves it is just a blur of blocks.

Of course the quality of the sport channels is good! But i dont watch sport. As for their "dhtv" the forced focus on the main subject`s and blurring of the background to achive the perseption of high def, really is very disturbing and not high def.

It is also my opinion that they have dropped the power of the uplink to accomodate more bandwidth for the "new" channels, so the amount of rain fades has increased.

I eventually gave in, bought a PVR and got DSTV.
After two months i could no longer stomach paying R550 for the junk they had on. I downgraded to the R139 per month one which gives me Action, Series, SABC, ETV, Nat Geo, and one or two others.

The only reason to keep DSTV IMHO is if you are a sport fanatic. Otherwise, its a rip!!

It's insanity to have DSTV Premium if you're not a sports fan. Even if you are one it's becoming harder and harder to justify paying for it

Yep, the sport is definitely the main draw card :(

Most of the good series are now on the Series channel anyway... so Mnet is going downhill...

All good series are also on my HDD:D

~Sport: I can now justify a few beers at the local pub, and watch it there:)

ya rather spend R500 a month going to the pub to watch the big games - you basically get free beer that way.

It is a pity they don't have any competition cause that should get them to improve their content and service.

They will hopefully get some good competition in the form of ODM in late 2009 or early 2010.

Have you seen Sky TV in the UK? Over 600 channels, excluding the amazing over 200 FTA channels you get as well. Over 40 HD channels. DirectTV in the US has over 130 HD channels.

I don't think it's possible to get DStv Select on a PVR. You can however get the R220 p/m DStv Compact on a PVR.

That's the only reason I subscribe.

Don't forget Egoli and Binnelanders.

You can still watch Egoli and Binnelanders on M-Net from 18:00 to 19:00 everyday on an EasyView or Compact subscription.

All good M-Net shows repeats on M-Net Series or M-Net Action which is available on Compact and Select. Most in the same week. Dirty Sexy Money, Without A Trace, Mad Men, Coconuts, 30 Rock, Gary Unmarried, Two And A Half Men, Big Bang Theory, Samantha Who?, Grey's Anatomy, The Mentalist, Prison Break, 24, Burn Notice, etc...

Mnet has big bang theory? cool.

what episode are they at though?

Dirty Sexy Money got cancelled.. Out of the Ones you listed BDL, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory and Prison Break are the only ones I watch, most of the others I have tried to watch but the bad story lines and terrible acting is unbearable.. IMO Dexter should be on m-net, I think it was showing on Action? I watch most of these series on my laptop anyways, DSTV is certainly going downhill, i watch about 2 hours of tv a week... unless its sport weekend as this last weekend was, soccer + cricket + rugby..
Oh yes another series which I love is Chuck, don't think it is on m-net at the moment but it is hilarious.. Californication is alright... IMHO they should show Family Guy on m-net ( if it doesn't already show??)

+1 for Big Bang Theory
