Hello, would just like to inform you guys that SA currently has a Pickup channel for MW3 and a site with a forum for all locals to join.

http://www.codmw3.co.za/ - link to site

And here is a guide for those who might not know how to work a IRC client. (this is used to join pickups)

http://cod4.co.za/?p=139

this is taken from the cod4.coza site and is a guide to join cod4 pickups, but just replace the #cod4 / #cod4pickup with #mw3 and you in. The channel does have a bot in place but its only hosted when enough people are on.

What is a pickup?

Simply put, a pickup is a mock clan match. South African MW3 pickups are played 5 versus 5 (10 slots). What makes a pickup different from a clan match is that any players can fill the 10 slots by joining the current game through a chat program called Internet Relay Chat (IRC).

A match is played on one map and lasts about 30 minutes, with players not being allowed to leave unless they find themselves a substitute.

Why should you be interested?

The factor that draws most players to play a pickup is that it offers a drastically more competitive experience than a normal public server (like ProMOD open). Another way of putting it is that because we can’t play proper clan matches during the off-peak times, we settle for playing mock clan matches made up of a random mix of players.

If you’ve ever been frustrated about the complete lack of teamwork and co-ordination on an open server (think about getting killed from behind repeatedly) then pickups are the answer. Pickups are the natural stepping stone after you’ve mastered public play and will help you to improve individually (learn tips and tricks from the best) and as a team (learn how to work together).
