Hi Guys,

i tried to cancel my account with Telkom after i got my free installation and the consultant made a very tempting offer. She offered me Telkoms Uncapped 1MB data + 1MB Adsl line rental @ a cost of R269 VS MWEB's same stuff for R349. Am i being naive for thinking i can handle Telkoms issues or should i move to Mweb regardless of the price.

I use my line for downloading series, movies and games from PSN also play online locally

I have an uncapped 4 Mbps line with TI and I'm very happy.

I also play a lot of online gaming via PSN.

MWEB's latency is about 30ms+ better for me.

Other than that I would prefer TI. It is only a personal view though.

ping to Cape Town is about 37ms
Ping to Rosebank is 72ms.
Ping to London is between 215 and 240ms
I'm about 80km from PE, so I'm a fair distance from Cpt and Rosebank servers.

I joined MWEB about a month ago. 1mbps. I went for the 2months free promotion. Very good latencies for gaming since it is prioritized.

I would recommend it.

I personally hate Telkom and wouldn't want anything to do with them. Ever. Apart from the phone line that I have to pay even though I never make phone calls...

You are aware that TI ISP are different from TELKOM?

Have a look at the various posts on the forum regarding uncapped and see who has the lowest complaints?

It is all fair if your personal view is that you hate Telkom.
You are entitled to it, but the OP asked advice.

I would say try out Telkom and if it works, use it!
It's a good offer man, I've heard good things about Telkom.

and if it doesn't work well for you, then you can go for another ISP. easy as that.
(Although I would not suggest Mweb - but post again if telkom sucks, pass that bridge when you get there - go for Telkom now while that offer is still on the table)

PS: Are you the NightCrawler I know (Toilet_Duck's brother?)

thanks for the reply guys. i have tested it and after 20 minutes of gameplay i feel like shooting my brains out. i am remaning with mweb. @Keeper: no i am not
