I am on Mweb's uncapped 384 package (line and data). How will I know when Telkom upgrades my line speed so I can upgrade my data? Any online test I do will still show a maximum speed of 384 even though the line speed is 1MB right?

Hi silkman

There is a tool on the Telkom site where you can check to see if the line has been upgraded. I would also suggest calling them to double check if the line has been upgraded once the site reflects so.

1) Wait till October
2) Check your modem stats which will tell you at what speed it is synching at
4) Your speed will automatically upgrade on the Mweb side as well, no need to do anything
3) When you are upgraded you will notice immediately, trust me :)

I didn't think I'll notice as the speed will still be the same as I will be throttled by Mweb as I am only paying for 384 uncapped not 1Mb- am correct?
Will Mweb automatically upgrade my line speed and charge me the extra fee?

Incorrect - Mweb lowered the price of the 1Mb account to the same price as the 384 account at R199 effectively making 1Mb the minimum in anticiption of the upgrades in October and that is the product you are on now. So the only thing currently holding you back is the Telkom line.

So to sum up there is no extra fee and the transition should be automatic :)

Sorry to derail... But seeing as how OP's question was answered and theres already this thread... WIll WebAfrica be doing the same thing ? Auto-upgrades as soon as the line speed goes up ?
