MWEB 384k Uncapped Shaped Daily Speed Results - Random & Various Tests

Hi Mfour

Please advise if you reset your router for a few minutes after the they re-created the port?

Indeed I did, the Telkom Tech also asked me to do that. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I make use of dial-up connections to easily swap between ISPs as needed. Also I have both Supernews (10 connections) and MWEB news server (2 connections) running at the same time. The speeds I quoted was for my total NNTP traffic.

My average speed up to 23h00 is about 6kBps, ATM my speed is running between 15 and 20 kBps, which is normal for 23h00 for the past week or two, and at about 1am another speed increase will happen to give me just about full 512kbps speed up to 05h00 / 06h00. From then on it free falls to my first posted stats.

These speed changes appear to co-incide with the CINX traffic volume graphs, i.e. 300Mb and up (on CINX) = 0 to 5kBps, 200 to 300Mb = 20kBps, 200Mb and less = full speed. I dunno, maybe its just me chasing ghosts :)

Hi MFOUR

Please note that I have sent a request to check for possible congestion on your line, once I receive feedback we will troubleshoot further. Also note that your line readings have not changed at all.

Thanks a lot. I doubt any problem on my line will be sorted out by Telkom, now or in the future. I was told as much by a supposed Telkom Engineer, although his arguments were more in line with a ill informed chopper pilot. For this very reason I am considering going wireless next year, unless something improves. Until then if it is my lot to only really be able to use the account from say 12am to 6am, then I guess that is what it will be till then. :)

That's the most sensible thing you've come up with yet.

Whatever you say buddy. Clearly there's a lack of 'something' in your life and you have to take it out on someone.

Read your posts, dude. You tell us that torrents are very fast on 384k during the day (utter utter cr*p). Then you say they are getting slower and you are thinking of cancelling.
Anyone else a bit confused?

What exactly do you not understand, he found torrents going fast during the day at one time but now in general ,he’s speeds have deteriorated so he may cancel

Lounger dude, not here to make enemies, if you going to bash my post, then go for it. Here is yet another torrent going over 30kb. Not to sure whether you consider before 7 business hours but whatever floats your boat. This is where I am going to leave it and if you would like to carry on your rant, be my guest buddy. PMS got you.

Do You consider this over 30kb???

So aaaaaaaaanyway, I am now getting 4 threads on the MWEB IP and 2 on the normal news.mweb.co.za news server. Needless to say, speeds are flying!

Last couple hours (I was on holiday and can't give more stats)

Code:
2010/11/21 05:00 PM 151.3 MB 5.0 MB 156.2 MB 1 hr
2010/11/21 06:00 PM 140.4 MB 4.3 MB 144.7 MB 1 hr
2010/11/21 07:00 PM 138.9 MB 5.0 MB 143.9 MB 57 min 11 sec

The last item of yours I had trouble with was your daytime claims. 6:30AM is very early morning and does not support your overall claim that you get over 30kb/s during the day. Try it after 7 and then come back and tell us. Also, your level of proof is just silly.

There's just no pleasing some people.

Speeds are seriously on the rise though. Not to sure what everyone else is getting.

Code:
Date / Time Incoming Outgoing Total Conn. time
2010/11/22 12:00 AM 159.9 MB 7.6 MB 167.4 MB 1 hr
