1. Anyone having problems with MWEB tonight. I find page will not refresh news and weather.
2. ADSL modem/router (Marconi wifi supplied by telkom) reboots randomly but most often at about 10pm daily. Anyone else?

The ADSL rounter resets itself every 24h's i think from when you turn your pc on and\or last reset. (something on telkoms side)

No problems but im not with Mweb

Mweb = yuck unless you're 12 and doing a project for school.

LOL, too true, why do people stick with them?

The dialup users should just move to Polka, it's the same company!s

Lol Wonder how encarta compares to Wikipeadia.

I am now with Mweb, been with icon and worldonline for many happy years, now that Mweb is running the show I must say that the service is downgrading. I called their "technical support" more times the last few months than any time before since 1998. Maybe they became to big?

Must say tho still loads better than Telkom at the moment!
(Dialup + SAT) = better than (Telkom ADSL and Fraud)

Regards the so alled School projects. I enlisted with Mweb for R50.00 pm to gain acess to the library for school use, that was before they took over Worldonline and before I new I could use my DSTV ID to access the library anyway(they did not inform me). The end result was my kids found the service limited and get more information and help on the net directly than from Mweb site.

:D Here's the message I just sent them:

"Hi All

I’ve been with Mweb since it acquired iafrica, which I joined in ’94. I just registered www.****.org with a US based company, it includes POP3/SMTP email addresses, hosting, site tools, etc.

So now I don’t need any extra bells and whistles from my ISP, all I need is a connection and I’ll take care of the rest.

Do you have anything to offer in this regard?

I haven’t found any local ISP’s that offer such a bare bones service, but I am seeing offerings for R199 a month for a 3gig ADSL account,

I’d be interested to know whether you’d be able to match that price if I decided to stay with Mweb?

I look forward to your response.

All the best

St3ve"

I'll keep you posted as regards their response:)

LOL, yeah Wiki provides some dodgy yet believable content... the worst is when you try and screen it through Google and all the links are from people who used Wiki as thier source.

st3ve i doubt mweb would adjust their price just to keep one customer happy when they still have 1000's of uneducated customers

I know but my customer loyalty to them at least deserves an attempt to explain why I'm about to leave.

:D been there :D

With Mweb's size and clout, they should be able to offer something better and more competetive. IMHO they are just like Telkom after the profits, may even be in cahoots with Telkom.

Hey I just got a response from them.

Er no it was an auto response, Outlook filed straight into the Junk email folder, I wonder if it knows something I don't??:D

When I set up my domain and hosting yesterday with ipowerweb I got to chat online with a live salesperson who gave me a 50% discount as soon as I asked.

Just Like That!!!

Yep worse than call centres, Automated "Bot" responses. Make you feel real important and valued as a customer not?

Hey I got a proper response from them within the 24 hour time period they promised. It was a price list of all their offerings. Ok well at least after 12 years loyal customership I can leave them for greener, cheaper pastures

Pleeese forward that price list on to me, or post it if it's not too big. I think it would be interesting to see... and thier site is awfully awkward
