HI

my company is on mweb's fibre international contract (cant recall what they call it) and my contract is about to expire

i get a call from them saying that prices are about to increase which to me is a bit wierd coz the new seacom line is about to be connected and everything points to more competition therefore price drops

can anyone here confirm that mweb is actually having a price increase? (they say its coz telkom is increasing their prices but i was always under the impression that mweb went through IS on my line) or should i start looking for another ISP?

Thanks in advance

Mweb might use IS for transit, but they still need to pay telkom or neotel for the physical cables in the ground.

And that is our problem how exactly? We also pay them for the cables from our homes and businesses.
Point is Seacom should be offering cheaper prices not more expensive ones.
Simple really, stop using MWEB

So what? Did you actually think prices would come down? :D

IF (Total Price we charge clients) * 2 - (Current Bandwith Cost) / 4 Then Telkom Profit = 8 * Current Profit.

Now, why would they pass up such a good business plan?

yeah move away from mweb, screw them.

Im always for moving if prices go up, that way if more people "move" when prices increase, ISP's will always think more seriously before just increasing pricing.

Do this with your insurance company. Go get quotes (do it yearly) and then you will find a cheaper option, then start the process of cancelling your insurance and then watch your insurance company drop your premiums, just to keep you. I havent had a real increase in my insurance premiums on over 3 years, in fact i am almost paying the same now as i did 3 years ago. And i have more stuff insured and specified.

Sorry for topic derail, but these companies milking us just p1ss3s me off.

Move away from Mweb anyway.

Telkom and Mweb are the only ones that are increasing their prices at the moment.

Everyone else are talking about price drops
