Ok so I've been googling and all that. Trying to find out just how much Mweb throttles torrents. But there doesn't seem to be an actual number. And a lot of the threads I find are from 2010-2011 >_>

Im on a 1Mbit line with Telkom and such with an uncapped Mweb account.

Last night I tried downloading a torrent on my Mweb account. And.. well it just sat there at 2KB's MAX. Now I can understand if they want to throttle. But.. Isn't 2KB's kinda overkill even after business hours :| ? Im well aware that during business hours speeds are throttled and such. But during the evening AFTER that 2KB's is really really bad. I even tried as far as using a different client, different ports, settings etc. Naturally that didn't improve anything though.

On my capped telkom account naturally I get 100KB's, full speed. Though I would prefer to download on an uncapped account so as not to get my family shouting at me for capping them :p So... what gives? Trying this morning now back on Mweb. I seem to be getting around 15-20 KB's max.

So you switched from mweb then to telkom on the same torrent within a reasonably small amount of time.

I left the telkom account on during the entire night to be sure actually. So yeah. After about an hour of giving Mweb time to try pass 2KB's... I decided to try my telkom account

I also noticed some slow downloads at about 5pm yesterday but it sped up later on.

I think I tried downloading at around 7ish or so. eventually tried telkom. Speeds went high quickly. So tried other clients with Mweb etc. And still yeah. 2KB's max lol. So I gave up at around 10ish I think and left my telkom to do the job of downloading

Hi Grimster101

We do not throttle on our accounts, we make use of dynamic shaping dependant on the needs of our network.

Tell me is it only the downloads of torrents that you have noticed slower than usual speeds ?

Last month I could max out my line almost any hour of the day, when I updated TheHunter. Their updates are distributed via torrents.

Eh well everything is fine except torrents as I said :p Though the speeds seem better this morning as I pointed out earlier.

I have tested torrents on my side and I am getting very decent speeds.

Please note that torrents receive a low priority on our network.

Hi again. Yes Im well aware of this. I was just curious as to why I could only get a max of 2KB's even though it was at night after working hours.

Anyways hopefully it'll get max speeds tonight on my mweb account.

I have had no issues lately with torrents... I actually think they have improved a little.... sssshhh (dont go cut speeds now ;))

FYI I also noticed MWEB at ~2kpbs when I switched on my pc this morning with uTorrent and sabnzbd running.

My line goes wonky every now & again (up your 40meg trial Telkom!!) forcing me to reboot my modem but updates and normal downloads were fine so I just switched off to go to work.

2mbps line, 1mbps account.

No issues here... :D

If you're getting 2 kB/s there's an issue somewhere I'd think.

I've never had a problem with torrents... Except when there are too few seeds or where the number of leechers is waaay more than the number of seeds

This is mine on mweb right now. http://i.imgur.com/37lVZ.png

I can live with 30-40KB's during working hours sure. Though I cant even reach that right now. But during the night I hope it wont be another night of 2KB's hehe

As for my Telkom account http://i.imgur.com/1Ofpd.png Just to show that the torrent itself is fine and nothing with my line or anything. I can get full speed easy. Naturally Im not expecting to get 100KB's right now on Mweb unless weekend/non working hours. But yeah. If Im going to have to expect 2KB's / 10KB's lol.. Im not so sure if I should accept that
