Mweb must have the worst billing department in the country. Thought Telkom and ADT were bad but these guys take it to a whole new level. Seven months later and I'm still trying to cancel.

Hi stevenv, I am sorry to hear about your experience.

I will follow up on this immediately

Why don't you guys have an online cancellation process? Afrihost for example allows you to cancel your service with them with the click of ONE button. No ifs, not buts, no forms to fill in, or faxes (yes faxes!) to send.

Why are you guys still in the dark ages?

That's why I left. Cannot cancel anything online and no network features - WAN IP or Number last connected. Afrihost far more user friendly and approachable.

Mweb was totally hassle free to cancel for me. Sent me the form, a couple of email follow ups. Done.

I agree with Markface.

I cancelled two accounts I had with them. It's a matter of filling in the form and emailing it through. You don't HAVE to fax it. Nor is it any more complicated than that.

The only annoying things are filling out that form and waiting for the calendar month notice period to finish.

MWEB have the kakkest account admin on the website.

I can't even login to check if the account I cancelled is well and truly cancelled. Don't feel like any surprises for Christmas, a lekker blacklist letter.

But as I am no longer a customer (I hope), far be it beyond me to actually try recommend they overhaul that POS website of theirs. I tried when I was a paying customer.

Why should you have to fill in a form and then email it to cancel a service? Do you know how crazy that sounds? It shouldn't take more than 1 click of a button to cancel.

That's not hassle free, with Openweb I sent one email requesting cancellation and it was done, Afrihost I don't even have to email, even better.

What is hassle free about filling in a form and having to follow up with a few emails?
LOL, its hassle free coz I didn't even have to get off my ass to do it.

1) Decide you want to cancel mweb
2) Email cancellations@mweb to tell them
3) They email you back with the form to fill in
3) Fill in the form, scan it back to them
4) Receive confirmation email that its cancelled
4) Profit (quite literally considering their prices)

I'll admit, more of a hassle than most though.

1) Decide you want to cancel mweb
2) Email cancellations@mweb to tell them
3) Wait and receive nothing
4) PM Mwebguy to send you form
5) Fill in the form, scan it back to them
6) Wait a few days
7) They claim it can't be processed because they can't find the account
8) Resend again telling them the form is correct
9) Wait a few more days and again pm mwebguy
10) Receive confirmation email that its cancelled
11) Pray to god that no more mweb incompetence will befall you.

I'll admit, more of a hassle than most though.
FTFY

I think things went wrong for me after some sales guy from MWEB phoned me after I requested the cancellation. After almost half an hour call, he convinced me to let him change the account to a 1GB prepaid and to load 6 months credit. The "sales pitch" was that by having six months credit, it would make it easier for me to come back if I ever wanted to. I was also told that after the six months if I hadn't returned, the account would be cancelled completely. The month after that call, they didn't cancel the uncapped portion of the account and I had to phone and shout at someone to get them to fix that. Now that the six months is over, I'm being charged 1GB prepaid and have to start shouting at people again. I don't like shouting at people, this company makes me do that

Things went wrong the day you signed up with Mweb in the first place.

Easier to come back? Bull****! mweb gives you no hassles when you want to join, its when you want to leave that the problems arise, as you've experienced.

Iam actually shocked that this considered hassle free.
Only two places where its a hassle. That must be mweb and telkom.

Thanks MwebGuy - you are the only good thing left at MWEB these days :D

Once again, that website needs to be sorted out. The links are broken, you get stuck in an infinite loop of logging in and having no service cancellation on it really blows. I am sad that I left MWEB the way that I did, the service I used to receive was pretty good for the premium I paid. Then again, I am quite happy with my new ISP now, who don't punish me for using the Internet.
