Mweb - breach of contract?

I started another thread in the cell phone section questioning if Mweb are still in fact a Vodacom cell phone service provider. Anyway, long story short is that I phoned them to find out what phones I will be able to get when my contract is up for renewal mid next month. Only to be told, rudely I might add, that Mweb no longer offer cell phone contracts and my contract will be cancelled. I am beside myself with anger. I told the guy I don't want my freaking contract cancelled and he tells me no its fine we will put on pre paid? Are you serious?? Not to mention I need have to wait until May (with no cell phone upgrade) and then they will cancel my contract.

Is this grounds for breach of contract? I am determined to do whatever it takes to have my cellphone moved over to VC immediately. Clearly Mweb don't have a cooking clue.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

why dont you read the SP contract? I can guarantee you they indemnify themselves somewhere in the small print. Your biggest problem is going to be retaining your number.

They're doing you a favour; cut out the middleman(MWeb) and go directly Vodacom. Everything will work so much better, i.e. Vodacom4me etc.

Just make sure they convert your number to prepaid and then port to Vodacom.

I totally agree, they are doing me a favor, Mweb are the single most useless organization I have EVER dealt with, I have had so much **** with them it is not funny.

I don't like they way they have gone about this, they didn't even have the decency to let me know.

So the only option I was given by Mweb was to cancel my contract now and pay the cancellation of contract fee. Seriously pissed off with this bunch.

I will NEVER EVER do another stitch of business with Mweb. I hope they go under.

I guess you are right. Well I will be moving over to VC directly when they cancel my contract.

Some more awesome news for me, it will take at least 6 months before I can get back on a contract.

I am going to make it my personal life mission to ensure that Mweb get their name dragged through the ****!

The new year has been ok, besides from this. I can't understand how they can get away with this?
