Mweb claim I used R890 data?

Yesterday morning my entire phone was cut off, can't call, can't sms, nothing.

10 mins earlier I received 3 sms's from Vodacom, 1st one said "you have reached 90% of your voluntary R780 limit", 2nd one said I had reached 50% and the 3rd finally said I had reached my limit and my service suspended.

Firstly, there is no possible way on this green earth I used anywhere close to R890 on data, absolutely impossible, I check my mail on my phone once maybe twice a day. I check FB if I am bored, maybe once a day and that is it. I don't do anything else. I have checked my Usage on my iPhone and it says sent 158 and received 508, and that is since I have had the phone which is about 1 year and 2 months ago.

If this R890 is minus my contract which is about R360 or so that still means I allegedally used R530 worth of data, how much would you actually have to dl to use that amount, its nuts!

The 2nd thing is that when I got those sms's I quickly checked my free minute balance and my remaining sms's on my sms bundle. My free minutes said I had 3, which is nuts, I am on a Talk 130 and I have hardly used my phone this month, so something cooked there. Then I check my sms balance and it says "No sms bundle loaded" or something like that. Like WTF?

Then to make things even more confusing, I call VC and when they repeat the number you are dialing from back to you over the phone, its not even my number!?!? WTF again.

Now my phone is suspended, I am waiting to hear back from useless Mweb but still not a word.

Anyone else had this issue?

What the heck do I do? I refuse to pay R890 bill that I know for a fact I did not use. My bill has always been the same, +- R400 and it varies very very slightly.

I am so pissed off right now I cant explain. I ****ing hate Mweb, they have been **** from the start! :mad:
 
Huh I'm not following Mweb? Vodacom? What does Mweb have to do with your cellphone? Do they sell Vodacom contracts?

Anyway, I'd walk into a Vodacom store and try sort it out, take you sim and ID with and prove the number is wrong and that you have been incorrectly billed.

Yeah sorry should have mentioned, my cell contract is through Mweb.

I phoned VC yesterday and they say they can't help me because Mweb is my SP. Such BS.
 
I just got a call from Mweb, the guy says I have used R894 worth of data, this is the biggest load of horse **** I have ever heard.

I told him my data counter on my iPhone is sitting at 666Mb's for sent and received, so he says yeah thats the problem thats how much data you used this month.

That is BS because as far as I know the iPhone data counter doesn't work monthly unless you reset it, I have never reset my counter.
 
I have basically figured out what has been going on.

When VC re-activated my account I noticed there is still data being used, a lot of data. Turns out my work exchange email account I added on Friday night has been chewing the data.

I am so so ****ed off right now.

Yeah, actually thank god for Vodacoms limit else I would be so screwed right now.

But I would love to know wtf happened because my work email account wouldn't even work, server kept rejecting but still the downloading continued.

Yeah, they still a bunch of useless twits though. Wish my contract was with VC direct.

Be thankful - I'm gonna get over R10000 account this month cos of overseas data usage - didnt realise my phone was connecting to the internet when i was charging it and blissfully thought that I was checking emails and the like using the hotels wireless when in fact my phone was connecting up.

Also have a weird one where one particular number has apparently been smsed about 10-12/day and this doesnt show on my sms log at all. Fortunately have put on sms barring so will see if the number is still getting smsed (somehow I think someone is hacking here).
