Hi guys,

I recently put my router into bridge mode because i dont like using the router account. I got a Mweb 1Gb account that only allows 1 concurrent connection (it says so on the Mweb site).

The thing i came across is that now if i use my brothers laptop to connect to the account and my desktop pc connects with the same account (through a single router), which seems like 2 concurrent connections to me (unless i got the meaning of 'concurrent connections' wrong). Am i breaking a rule (some hidden telecoms law :D) or something by doing something like this?

concurrent connections doesn't affect the number of times u can dial up from one adsl port, it just means that you and your friend (on a different adsl line) can't use the same connection

Eh, no. That is not how I understand & experience it. Concurrent connections means how many connections/dailups you are allowed per account. eg Them ^*#$%s over at SAINET changed my concurrent connections to 1 without informing me - nice - so I can only connect to that account one time. Even on the same ADSL port, only 1 connection is allowed. When trying to connect a second PC for example I get an invalid user/password error. That is the default way of doing things.

Some ISPs state that you only get 1 concurrent connection, but in effect they allocate 2 so that you can still connect in the event that your first connection does not disconnect properly for some reason.

@smb3 Don't fret - it works, just leave it be. You cannot get into trouble or anything lol.

what! OK to be diplomatic, when using MWEB they consider a concurrent connection being from more than one ADSL port... How do you think those guys are abusing the news servers... RIGHT NOW I am running 8 PPPOE connections (diff PCs) on a 1GB mweb account... ( wich has a 1 concurrent limmit)

correct, but I'm able to do the same with my TI account and Axxess account, which lead me to think that concurrent = overall and not per line port

O_o .... *boils over*

I think the only ISP where you have to actually worry about being penalized for using more than the advertised number of concurrent connections in Cybersmart, they have something about it in thier terms and conditions.

With MWeb, I wouldn't worry about getting more than 1 connection :) Unless thier terms say something!!!
