Mweb dead?

M-Web has always been dead, there is nothing new about this :D

TonyA, ShodanZA, fluke, ZeRo_Co0l,

Please PM me more info about the problem and your MWEB details so that I can have a look at the problem

Regards
Mweb Operations

I seem to be caught in some kind of anomaly of awesome mweb service, going by these boards..

I think sometimes people confuse 'mweb being dead' with normal peering faults, telkom outages and everything else that can go wrong on a location basis.

Easier to just blame it on whatever thread is first up in the ADSL ISP discussions forum.

Yea right.

Very strange though that if I switch to afrihost or telkom all seems to be fine

Try Cybersmart, no issues, no CAP, no excessive shaping, no blocked ports and no dumber than dumb Adv Tech support...

You will need this: MWEB_Termination_Form.doc with one month's notice.

No way to check out the pricing.

Also:

trltech.co.za has address 178.33.44.62
trltech.co.za mail is handled by 20 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com.
trltech.co.za mail is handled by 25 aspmx2.googlemail.com.
trltech.co.za mail is handled by 10 aspmx.l.google.com.
trltech.co.za mail is handled by 15 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com.

So ... they are hosted in France (OVH SAS). With Google accepting mail for them, instead of their own servers.

The fact that Telkom ISP access works over Telkom lines is not a surprise.

If MWeb is "down" due to some (Telkom) peering problem, access via other ISPs (Afrihost) may still work?

Yes but doesn't explain why I can suddenly access site after rebooting my router

Restarting a router should be the first step in trouble-shooting a problematic connection. Many hardware devices simply require a "reset". This is not MWeb's "fault" (not sure if you were suggesting it was, so just saying).
