Morning everybody, can I just ask some help,
Customer mail from (iafrica-account/netactive-accounts)-bought/taken over by Mweb takes 12+ hours to arrive in my Gmail. I couldn't react to an order yesterday because of this and lost the business. Will changing the customer mail-settings to the "smtpauth"-server from Mweb fix this.

Thanks in advance.

I have a client who has been having this problem for years now. And every time Mweb says the problem is on their side. Eventually I convinced the client to move over to hosted email on his own domain. But he still wants to keep the Mweb address as a backup.
/Facepalm.

Short answer.
You are with Gmail, not your fault.
User sending email is at fault. Person must switch to one of these: Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or GMX.

Longer answer.
Look at email message header, see where the delay was, send this to client.
Nudge client to switch to options: Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or GMX.

If I place an order and send it by ship, you cannot feel responsible 3 weeks later when you see date of the stamp of the departing port.
The person making the request/ "placing the order" need to ensure they use a pigeon if they want a fast response.

You use Gmail, you are in the clear.

Gmail imposes a long delay on mail from certain ISPs, as a kind of spam filter. This seems to be avoided if the sender is in your contacts list. Obviously that would not help if it was from someone you had never heard from before (treated like spam).

Thanks Gordon, the person is one of my contacts.

I then went to the client and changed the settings to above smtp-server as suggested by Mweb on their own website, and when you try to send mail then, it immediately says..."This person's account is locked" in red letters nogal....:(

The actual mail did eventually arrived yesterday, send 09h05 on Thursday, delivered on Friday 17h05....so 32hours later.

I manage an exchange server for my company and had the same issues. After plenty of head scratching and messing around i found the issue was related to implementing dmarc, spf and dkim on our domains. For some reason gmail has increased security and this basically is forcing everyone else to also start upping there mail server security.
