Got this email on 24 September. No press releases or discussions yet on MyBB. I suppose as MWEB put it, not many people use news.mweb.co.za (probably because as they shape the life out of it.)

Dear MWEBBER,

Over the last few years, MWEB has partnered with Giganews to deliver the latest content on our Usenet service hosted on news.mweb.co.za. However, due to the extremely low uptake on the service, we have made the decision to terminate this service as of 23 October 2014.

Don't despair, if you wish to continue using this service, Giganews is offering all MWEB subscribers an exclusive lifetime discount on their Premium Usenet service.

rather use USenext and their Tangysoft download utility.

99.999 % success download rate. No missing blocks etc I had with Grabit and Altbins. Wasted so much data!

I think the reason they're dropping it is because IS is buying them. And IS already has a news server

IS is just buying Mweb's business unit the consumer unit will be left untouched by IS
