When I set up my mweb email on a Galaxy 10.1 i get an error with the outgoing smtp server.
Incoming works fine using imap.mweb.net with port 143
Outgoing I have tried smtp.mweb.net, smtp.mweb.co.za, pop.mweb.co.za, pop3.mweb.co.za, smtp.mweb.co.za.. all combinations found on the mweb website.
The port is 587
My email address ends on a .co.za

Does anybody know what i can do to sort this out?

Just to cover the obvious - are you using an Mweb connection when trying to use their SMTP server? The exact error message would also help.

Using port587 I assume you use 1 or more different connection types or providers, did you make sure to use authentication on outgoing and the right Mweb username and password for it?

use the smtp settings for your data carrier... ie for vodacom would be smtp.vodacom.co.za

This is quite a bad setup if you use multiple carriers ^,as he mentioned port 587 I suspect this might be the case as it's generally used as the alternate submission port for authenticating to a specific carrier regardless of port25 redirects

Assuming you have a gmail account that you've set up on your tab, just log into your MWeb account and forward all your emails to your gmail address.
Then in gmail, label all the emails forwarded from your MWeb account appropriately.
Then, still in gmail, add your Mweb email to your list of "Send email as" address.

I have about 6 different email accounts setup this way, and I only use the one gmail account.

Here is some more info.
Its my work email address. The address has been set up on my blackberry.
I have the password for logging in on the web mweb message centre and everything.
I am setting my email account using the details used on my blackberry. But on the blackberry there is no outgoing server details in the blackberry setup.
I have tried all smtp server names but nothing works.

The error message I get is : Unable to open connection to server..

I don't want to get the IT company out to set it as they charge per call out. And it shouldn't be so difficult.

smtp.mweb.co.za
port 587
Authentication on
Username: [email protected]
Password: the password for the above

Running a similar setup for my tab and phone

Strange, I'm still getting the Unable to open connection to server message.
Looks like I will have to involve IT.
But thanx for the try:)

mweb have an smtp relay for using when you are onnecting through a different isp.

smtp.mwebrelay.net I think.

This is how my IT guy did it:

Smtp server: smtp.vodamail.co.za
Security type: none
Port: 25
Untick 'use sign in'

Thank you internet.

I have contemplated many assassinations against the birth givers of samsung for making it so difficult to converse with my works emails on my tablet.

You might not know, but you saved lives.

Sincerely

Use the gmail method provided in one of the prior posts, it's far superior as you will be able to access your email send + receive no matter if you MTN/Vodacom/Cell C or Wireless, plus it will allow some nice added benefits. Like archiving your outgoing mail and a few more.
