Hi

We are experiencing mail sending problems. Can other Mweb users confirm this or not. If you send an email without attachment the mail goes out without problem. If you attach something like picture or document to e-mail it takes forever to send. The connection does not time out it is just super slow. I have seen this now at various clients in the past week.

So the test was to pick other provider outgoing mail server which requires authentication and mail works like dream. Mweb tells me they do not have any issues. Are we the only people experiencing this or not.

Regards

Fartie

Hi FartingFred

I have checked on my side and I cannot see any reported issues with mail.
I would advise that if your clients are still having this problem that they contact us so that the technicians could do some troubleshooting with them. Hopefully we'll be able to get to the bottom of it.

It's always easy to neglect how big this attachment is. I've had the same issues with users moaning about the email being slow or not delivering and found they're trying to attach 20mb+ files to the email.

Keep in mind mail servers normally are set to a 5mb limit (even if your sending server isn't, the recipient might be). Also, your upload speed is significantly slower than your download speed on an ADSL line, so keep that in mind. So if the other mail server allows bigger attachments and MWEB's might not, there you have the problem.

Also just make sure your ports you're using is correct, a lot of people think port 25 is the correct one to use when it's not

By default Mweb blocks port 25 outgoing on their home uncapped accounts.

You can specify other ports, for example port 465 SSL (for google mail)

Or you can use mweb's smtp server as a smarthost.
