Looking for a data connection solution I narrowed it down to Mweb 50GB @ R349pm and Telkom 80GB @ R369pm.

I called Mweb and asked the agent (Raeez) about their offering in comparison to the Telkom one. He advised that the Mweb offering is better because it is LTE-A while the Telkom one is LTE. The Mweb webiste also advertises that this is a LTE-A offering. Considering that LTE-A is theoretically 2 to 3 times faster than LTE I decided to go with Mweb.

Upon receiving the equipment I noticed that the Huawei B315 router provided only support LTE and not LTE-A. I called Mweb and Mpho in the technical department confirmed that the router does not support LTE-A. I also have written confirmation from Huawei that the router does not support LTE-A.

Since then I have been dealing with Saadick in the cancellations department who also agreed with me that the package is being sold as LTE-A but the router does not support LTE-A.

To date I just keep getting empty promises of cancellation from Mweb and I'm on the verge or approaching the Advertising Standards Authority to report this matter where Mweb is selling something different from what they advertise.

If I understand correctly you can also add multiple SIMs to the Telkom package while this does not appear to be the case with the Cell Fixed LTE package.

Pretty sure this is false advertising, the Fixed LTE service from Cell C is not advertised as LTE-A on Cell C's website nor any other ISP's website.

so Mweb called me up eventually and agreed that what they sold me isn't actually LTE-A. They will cancel the contract without penalty and will collect the router from me.

I'm going to be paying more for the deal with a different provider as the Telkom special has ended but anyways its about the principle of the matter.
