"Johannesburg – Local internet service provider MWEB said on Friday that it had to date, attracted 70 000 customers to its low cost uncapped ADSL broadband offering.

Launched in March, MWEB claimed that its low-cost uncapped ADSL consumer and business offerings priced from R219 per month were 40% cheaper than other offerings.

It also claimed to be the first major player in South Africa to offer uncapped ADSL on a significant scale."

....and some people are still under the mistaken assumption that they are desperate to keep those top few percent who abuse the system.... everyone is better off without them.

Some good money to made on that kind of volume - sure it'll grow.

Well usage, etc plays a part too - but with growth and once people start normalising their usage as they get over the initial shock of raping the web, it'll be good.

Well done Mweb.
In all honesty, Seacom problems apart, Mweb must be seen as the only large ISP with enough balls to open up the uncapped market in SA , where the customer normally gets fleced for every cent. Can u ever imagine Telkon taking such a 'revelutionary' step!. If it were not for Mweb we will still be buying very expensive gigs or facing 2 gig caps.

notions like this, and the fact that redundancy&competition is coming with EASSy, WACS, Main One, ACE, etc is only more reassurance that the future is looking bright for broadband in SA =)
