I have 4MB Uncapped Premium account. This is what their website says:

"Advanced users, who want to transfer or download larger files, game online, stream video and make VoIP calls"

For the last three weeks this has not been the case. I have confirmed with MWEB that my account is not being throttled, the line is just being shaped.

I am unable to connect to online game servers or download any torrents. From around 16:15 yesterday till 19:00 I could not get faster thab 5kB/s on a download, even thought the speedtest return 348kBs (which is slow for a 4MB line).

I tried a trial account from another ISP at around 17:00 and had instant connection to my gaming server and the same torrent downloaded at 200kB/s +.

I would like to know why the shaping is so severe of late. It is really making my internet experience with MWEB an unpleasant one and I am for the 1st time since I started using them as an ISP (more than 5 years), regretting my decision and looking for other alternatives.

It seems like they dont REALLY care about customer complaints/needs.

Have you downloaded 250gb or more lately ? Maybe they put you into the naughty corner.

Nope, havent really downloaded much at all. My ADSL usage report reflects zero, but that has been a bug for ever and a day.

I am on the 4MB Uncapped Premium account and have had no problems,

My downloads always run near to full speed or at full speed, and I dont bypass any of the shaping at all,

then again, I dont download the whole internet, average usage around 160 Gig

What do you download?

Sounds like your exchange is congested (which works erratically). I usually got slow-to-non-existent speeds round about when people started coming home after a day at work, but not always

Been wonedring if it's not because it's an old Tiscali account that they took over years ago. My userid is still ****@tiscali.co.za.

Good Morning

Please provide me your MWEB account details via private message.

Please also advise which games you are having trouble with?

100% agree Skype is not working properly for more then a week now . They know it and ignore it. This is NOT a premium service

Tested again last night. My connection to the gaming server was slightly better, asin I actually managed to connect a few times, didnt have time test torrents. I think they are having intermittent shaping issues after the new throttled/shaped products were launched, and dont know how to resolve them, or, wont admit there are issues.

I have no issues with mweb... low ping to local and playable ping to europe, torrents download at an acceptable speed.

I had a similar problem I have a 6 meg line and I could not get more then 1 meg out of it but it worked fine on other isp's

I logged a call with them and they could not fix it over the phone

I discovered the way to fix it was to leave you modem off for about 10 minutes or call Telkom and get them to reset your port this will force and IP address change and all went back to normal after that
