Hey guys

The past few days now my line has just been slow as hell, my download speed during the day is just pathetic. Im trying to download a 60mb file now, not a torrent just a normal file and its 8h 25min remaining time @ 2.84kbps...

Its been like this the past few days now, they throttling us even more now? its only a 384line so its not the fastest but my old 56k dial up was faster than this...

Anyone else experiancing this? PE / East London area, dont know if the location is relevant but anyway.

with mweb = slow

my IS account is local only but that seems fine

IS is f'n useless, even here in the CBD of cape town the speeds with IS are competely useless. I don't know how one can run an online business/work at home in this country. What must the consumer do to get better service? What? o_o

What is going to happen when the 10 Meg lines come.

Shaping and throttling is so bad at the moment, it gonna get worse when we get faster lines and the demand for bandwidth goes up.

I can see it now, we all will be downloading at 20k a second on our fancy 10 meg lines. If you want keep 4 meg lines at full speed, there is no way we will keep 10 meg lines at full speed

Moved to Mweb from Afrihost this month and it seems like the file share hosts are throttled very heavily during the day and most of the evening on Mweb.
I tried premium accounts on hotfile and RS and both were ridiculously slow. I had to get a 1GB Afrihost account to use today and that worked fine.
Does anyone else experience the same throttling on Mweb uncapped 384?

+1

Don't know why they are bothering with 10Mbps lines, when 4Mbps lines are throttled to hell during the day.

2 reasons. 1, the gap between 384 and 10meg is huge, more people will upgrade to 10meg. Telkom happy. 2, the demand for bandwith will sky rocket, 10meg users will complain that they not getting full speed so ISP's will need to increse IPConnect bandwith. Telkom happy.

Im all for speed upgrades, but I think you can see who the winner is.

+1 Damn you just BROKE IT down like Crack-Cocaine. Telkom has a clever business model in this country, very evil but clever indeed.

uhm just remember DATA and Line speed is seperate, when 10MBs is out Capped accounts will out perform Uncapped. also its only me I guess but IS is fast as hell for me at the moment.

My Megaupload Downloads are also slow... sometimes they just fail and I have to re download them.

I'm in Johannesburg, MWeb Uncapped 4mb/s and experience similar speeds of 1Kb/s to 2kb/s during the day from time to time. (Whats that, less than 56k speeds?) Thought this was normal. Maybe there are other people with these problems?

Ditto.

Let's not go to news servers?

Seems the only decent time i can actually get a 40kb on my bandwidth monitor is one day during the weekend.
Not exactly brilliant eh?

Going at a great 8kb now.
