So I have a doctor client who keeps having problem with his e-mail.

He has two NetActive Email addresses, has had them for years.

The first one he uses between home and office, so his two computers are set up not to delete the e-mails off the server until after 3 days.
This is so that he can get his e-mail on both computers.

The second e-mail address is the same, but is shared between his two secretaries for sending out statements and accounts.

Now the problem he was having was that he was losing mail and nothing was coming through.
His clients were getting a "Server mailbox full" message.

I went online to his NetActive Account through the Mweb Online Email page and saw that the server only gives him 20MB storage space.

Who in this day and age only gives 20MB of storage space? That's only about ten emails with attachments.

How do I increase this and how ridiculous is Mweb?

Good day Garyvdh

The mailbox is probably a screen name or secondary mailbox, that is why the size is 20Mb. The primary email address size is much bigger.

Can you please PM me the email address in question so that I can look further into this.

Can always ask who in this day age still uses ISP for emails. I've been on my one private domains since 2000. Still... the proper way would be a single space divided by aliases or mailboxes, not 1 with 90% of the space and rest must now be content with remainder being 10%. lol.

Thousands and millions of people still use their ISPs provided e-mail.
It's not ideal, but they don't really know any better.

Having a similar issue, cant find out how to sort this...

Outlook 2013 doesn't have the option to un-tick "Leave a copy of message on the server"?

Why not setup a GMail account to pull mail from the POP account? You can even use the same address to reply on.

So his patients' can get customised ads relating to their medical conditions whenever they use a google service? You don't want gmail hosting peoples' medical records -- such as emailed referral letters, sick notes, billing statements with diagnostic codes, prescriptions, reports etc.

Does Google really harvest e-mail addresses to sell on to spammers? I know that they show related ads in the GMail window but I doubt they would get away with stealing information? If I'm wrong then I agree with you totally, not something you would want a doctor's information being shared with.

They do machine read email to serve ads. So it's possible they would be able to match the names, demographic data and conditions of the patients and serve them ads. And even if they don't do this specifically the Gmail servers are based offshore and who knows what sort of data protection laws they are under? Can google employees access the data legally or even officially? And when the data is deleted, what happens? In SA there are at least laws which MWEB (Netactive) have to follow. Gmail - I dunno.

Google is an ad business. Their customers are not their users, but their advertisers. They sell you, and me, the people who use their products and they grok what we do to better serve ads and so on. So I would not put such on a gmail server. (You can argue that all unencrypted email is not safe, but this is specifically definitely unsafe.)

(Note they don't harvest email addresses. They machine read the emails passing through, and also emails coming in from non-google users. So if you send an email to a friend @gmail it may be read by a machine and processed in some or other way with an idea of commercialising that traffic. Someone has to pay for those GBs of b/w and TBs of storage.)
