Good morning

Thanks for all the nice info here. Can someone please help? Got a novatel 3g card plugged into a pci - pcmcia card in my desktop and mweb email for my setup at home. Very often I can not access the pop3.mweb.co.za server to download email. (Even if I quit IE and only traffic is suppose to be between my desktop and pop3).

Cheers

Can try but this problem is only present when i connect to net via 3G

gerkot, what is the error message you get?

Next time this happens, open up a DOS box and do a nslookup on the MWEB POP3 server and check if the URL resolves.

You might be (yet another) victum of the DNS problems....

MWEB cannot help

Hi, spoke to mweb. They say its a Vodacom problem, probably DNS problem, why I can't connect to pop3.mweb or smtp.vodacom. Any ideas?

If it's a DNS problem, try using 196.2.50.70 instead of the hostname pop3.mweb.co.za, if that works consistently, then it is most likely a DNS issue...same goes for smtp.mweb.co.za - presumably it requires authentication when accessed from another subnet/ISP?

If smtp.vodacom.co.za is a problem, which APN are you using with Vodacom 3G? If the 'internetvpn' APN, then it appears there is a problem there, which Vodacom must now be working at resolving...:)
