4meg line
10kb/s during the day and I will be lucky if I get more that 100 at night. I have been told by mweb and i quote ' 100 is reasonble' lawl. I download about 80 gig a month and I suspect i have been put in some kind of bracket shaping. It is the 'we will shape you till your eyes pop' bracket.

I am cancelling this service. Of course it takes 2 months to cancel with mweb but at least i am done with their fail product. I do have a titan wadsl account and i seldom get less than 350kb/s on it. I have reached the point now that I am prepared to pay a little extra for a decent service as opposed to using a service that is totally not what it should be.

Adios mweb and good riddance.

If the bolded is all true, that is pretty lame, I must agree.

hmmmm pretend uncapped vs giving in and pay exorbitant costs, not sure which is worse. But we are definitely getting more than we used to, so I'm grateful for that.

What protocol are you getting those speeds on? It's well known that P2P (and one-click hosting services such as Rapidshare) is heavily shaped, so if it's P2P then I reckon that's pretty normal. Everything else should be running at a much higher speed.

Ok so now we must use alternative protocols? We must lie and cheat the same way they do? Not how I roll....

10 kB/s shaped during the day on a 4meg line? I'd be complaining as well, I get around 20 using torrents on a 384 line.

truth be told there is currently no better service for the same price... AFAIK

=/ No problem here in CPTown. 8-10mbps, during the day I still get no less than 400kb/s a sec via HTTP downloads. Youtube streaming is always on, no buffer. I love Mweb so far.

I Agree, they must have put us in a different shaping bracket.

I use on aggregate 75 gig pm, last few months about 50 gigs, due to the ridiculous shaping.

Daytime usage 10kb, 5pm-12pm 30kb, 12pm + 90-100kb,

It is ridiculous, called the helpdesk, excuse I got was that they are moving people to their own network and upgrading so it should be getting better by 1st October.

Will cancel after that if that is the speed I get in October again, had enough, it is NO ways a 4mb account, in fact reading from other posters, my is performing worse than some 384k accounts.

In Cape Town as well, so this is definitely an account based shaping policy, and other 4mb mweb users seems fine. Didn't think 75 gb was excessive on uncapped account.

I canceled my 4MB mweb account and got a 384 account. Same speed :P
I must say that the 4MB does not seem worth it. I was constantly so frustrated.

When they just launched it was awesome. Then it got worse, and worse, and I canceled.

Streaming 720p or just regular old 360p? If the former, then we must be paying for a different service. I have to leave a 10 minute 720p video for an hour before it'll buffer. And streaming something like the Digital Concert Hall even on the lowest settings, after hours? Forget about it.

http downloads are 400kb/s max, however I wish I could day the same for streaming. A 2:53 youtube clip has taken, and I'm not lying to you here, 6 min to buffer. It used be awesome, no buffer issue whatsoever. This shaping is bull and cheesing me off, someone should define uncapped to them...

13kB/s for the last week. But I have dloaded alot more this month than previous months and i never had such slow speeds before. Think i did about 100gigs this month whereas I usually do between 30-50gigs.

I have no "real" buffering, if the option is available I usually go up to 1080p. The streaming starts right away. I am not far off from my exchange, 1-2.KM away.

All 'cheap' uncapped ISPs shape. We have a service to unshape it. Your 4mbps line could achieve ~420kbps downloading torrents.
