MWEB Uncapped shaping/throttling Rapidshare

100KB/sec on MWEB uncapped account
FULL speed 4mbit on IS uncapped express account.
(Multithreaded 10 thread downloads)

Been like this every night of the week. Blatantly noticeable.

And, I've only done about 3 gigs this month on my MWEB uncapped account. So shaped/throttled from the start, no priority.

You've been getting 100KB/s every night and yet you've only managed to download 3GB in 9 days? I'm using rapidshare and I've already done over 7GB in the last 24 hours and my PC wasn't even on all night.

Let's just be thankful that MWeb's shaping still allows us to do 100kB/s. For other ISP's competing products, being shaped means dial up speeds.
 
Allow me to clarify, I have NOT been downloading non-stop. Coming from neotel, I can however understand how you would be satisfied with lower speeds.

I've just re-read your post and I now see that my comment about downloads was not as relevant as I first thought. With regards to speeds, I was using Axxess Uncapped Express+ from December until last month so I am fairly familiar with decent uncapped ADSL offerings. I still think MWeb's product is worthy of praise. Rapidshare is used by many people to perform bulk downloads (e.g. me) and so I fully understand why MWeb chose to shape it. I'm just glad that the speeds I get on it and news servers, torrents etc. are still usable. I'd love to download at full speed using all these services, but for R539 (or whatever the actual price is) I'm not going to complain too much about MWeb's rapidshare speeds.

If it's really that important to you, there's always Axxess uncapped express.

Its not shaped 24/7 You will see massive speed increase over the weekends especially on http.
 
Dude even if they are throttling them at 100kb/s you will still get 100gb on the account easily, if you do not like that then go pay loads more money for true uncapped. Seriously you have done 3 gb in 9 days and you are moaning about the speed. I have done around 30gb so far this month, so not quite understanding the moaning.
 
Why the hell must i wait 4 hours for something to download instead of 1??? By the time the download is finished it's bed time, that's a huge deal.

When I spoke to the MWEB rep when I switched from a standard mweb account he assured me nothing was different about the account, else frankly I wouldn't of got it. Seacom or SAT3, I want my bandwidth capacity I have paid for. 4mbit not 1mbit.

I have an Uncapped express account as well if you would actually read my post. And, it's no business of yours how much I download. What makes it worse is no matter how much whether you do 3 or 50 gig, they shape rapidshare.

Ok? But then do NOT charge me for a 4096 line if I only get 1024 !!!!
 
4mbit capacity, regardless of protocol.

I'm not a freaking account abuser, screw these South African ISP's.

If you want uncapped and unshaped, you can have it. You are just going to have to pay up for it, though.

Rapidshare does not have priority , deal with it or cancel. simple as that.

No one is forcing you to stay with mweb. You can Go and Pay R899 or R999 for your uncapped after hours account and be limited to 128k during the day.

Are you high? Telkom does the same thing, they sell you 4mbps and if you can only sync at 1mbps, charge you the same... stop being so daft dude. The OP downloaded 3gig already, that would most probably mean CAP in normal circumstances. It's uncapped who cares how "slow" it goes, you'll be able to download constantly without hitting any sort of cap?? Even with all these guys moaning at not getting full speeds, imagine with the speed you ARE getting how much you can download a month? I'm currently running at 39.98kb/s average 24/7 on my 384kbps.... so I would have hit my cap on the 1st already...

People forget certain things (and their uninformed opinions usually get in the way including the "har, I'm paying for a service gimme my service" mentality)

If you want to switch then **** off and switch to Afrihost who's on IS bandwidth, go and see how "fast" those guys are...

Dude they are limiting your pirated goods and you are moaning, maybe instead of being cheap skate :D go buy the shyte you download instead of moaning about not being able to pull your pirated goods at high speed.

Honestly, give people something half decent and all you will hear is bitching. There is more to uncapped than letting people pirate at full speed. I like that they throttle pirate networks because i can browse and play games without the network being crippled and i can still download 100-120gb off astraweb, so quit bitching and either accept it or go pay 2.4k for an all day uncapped unshaped account. Go work out how much 120gb would cost if there was no mweb uncapped.

+1 If I torrent and I open up my web browser or email, my torrent speed dies to give way for my http/ftp/email... which I love, because as soon as I'm idle my torrent speed goes up again. Not even Web Africa has that type of prioritization per client, downloading a torrent from them + surfing the web is a nightmare.

the uncapped package does exactly what I want it to do, and with most of the shaping lifted at night, I can even enjoy running around in WoW without a high ping
 
MWEb ... wow man just got off whit the guy he says that if you use more then 180 GB on a 4096K line you wil be contacted by the abuse team :( .. .He wouldent put me throu to that department .. so I couldnt find out what will happend wit you !! does any one know what will happend ???
