Hi everyone

I'm new here and I assume this has already been covered somewhere in the forums but I cannot seem to find the answer.

I have a 2MB ADSL Standard bundle (data&line) package with Mweb. On my MWeb account details it shows it is running at 2MBps and on my router it also says the same BUT if I do a speedtest I only get 700kbs downloading on a good day, surely there must be something wrong as I can assume this must be at least in the 1500kbs mark or very close to 2000kbs mark??

any advice or suggestions

Being from Cape Town, you're most likely experiencing a bottleneck at your exchange

However, click the link in my signature and go to home adsl and choose 1gb, you get 1gb for free. Afrihost also has 1gb for free, so you can test different ISP's. If both of these are faster, I'd highly recommend moving away from MWEB

Hello, MorneVisser

Can you post a tracert done from your premises (nothing running in the background as no wireless connections), easy to see from this where the issue is located.

Best to get either the webafrica and afrihost accounts so that you can send both sets of tracert, if the 2nd hop looks ****ed then YAAAAY welcome to Telkoms toilet...

I have had this issue for 6 months now :) 600 - 3000 ms ping with this only going back to normal at 3 o clock the morning...

MOrning MorneVisser, please provide me your MWEB account details via private message and we can do some troubleshooting.
