Mweb trying to spoil my fun?

Hi guys. Sorry if this has been discussed in the past, but....

...does Mweb limit download speed from one-click hosts (like r****share, h**file, etc.) during the daytime?

Since getting Mweb uncapped DSL, I've noticed that during the daytime, downloads from sites like these are terribly slow (like 1 or 2KB/s), but after 7pm they then happily run along.
I've been using file****e.com because of this, which has been working at maximum speed, but all of a sudden that seems to also have conformed to these "rules."

So looks like Mweb has caught up with that one too :cry:
So, is Mweb spoiling my fun, or is something else up? Normal browsing works perfectly fine & fast.

It's not really an uncapped account -more like a 'daytime-browsing-pot-luck-the-rest-of-the-time' account.

I'm feeling paranoid too, so I went and starred those names of the servers.

I get a kind of William Wallace feeling.

Ja, we have to guard what little freedom we have jealously :)

Rapidshare was always cooked, from day one, then Megaupload, then hotfile, still one or two remaining, buts only a matter of time....
 
Won't the Consumer protection act hit MWEB for this. They are impeding a paid for service by their actions?

Did you read the T and C's? I am assuming not so i am going to assume you just signed a contract without knowing a thing about it. Luckily for you it is not a long contact but you should read the fine print before you sign anything.
 
Mweb is short of bandwidth so they are limiting downloads like those and games. They've been doing it for months. Browsing isn't affected.
 
Most of these still go full speed (or fast enough) on the @mweb domain. Also useful to change between the domains to get a new IP quickly for the sites that need it.

And I do read TandCs, I was just wondering.

Compare to other ISP's, the filesharing on Mweb is very much reduced in speed. Do a comparison yourself.

He was commenting on changing between using the @dslmweb.co.za and @mweb.co.za logins, not to mweb as a whole.

That is a perfect description for mweb uncapped. Gaming during office hours is often not worth the effort due to high pings, steam doesn't login but times out, also random irc disconnections. Doesn't happen in the evenings or nighttime. But... mweb uncapped is great for doing lots of downloading, or web browsing during office hours.

I guess that's an accurate description. However, I think a person living in another country,(lol, just about any other country) used to much better than we, would probably have a much harsher description of the "service" offered by our telecoms company and the service providers in this country.

edit: 21:00 and my download is snailing along at 2KB/s. I sure as hell hope this is just Mweb sorting out problems and not new cr*ppy policy. wtf is uncapped then for now? Browsing for the caffeine junky?

In reply to the OP: MWeb dynamically shapes certain protocols on shaped accounts. IIRC they may also shape particular sites. This issue has been discussed extensively in many threads on these forums.

Are you sure it is MWEB?My line is snailing along at 450KB/s on newservers
