I expected 4mbps, not slow than my 384k?

Why did I bother upgrading if you're giving me speeds slower than 384k gave me?

Yes. It's bad. All my mweb connections are really really slow. Axxess is working fine.

Hmm?

nothing wrong here in GP/PTA East. take a good bet and shelve this with the other coastal slow downs mweb had and still is having.

Never had a slow down with MWEB since I'm not near the coast. Like I said, my 384 was running at full capacity. Upgrading my line to 4mb + 4mb MWEB account, and it all slows down to a crawl...

fooled me with
Location :Cape Town

anyways, suppose you did try another isp on the same line to make sure it's just not the line that wasn't done properly ? i've had 2 telkom line installations borked at difference places.

There was something seriously wrong today, my connection basically died for almost an hour. I could hardly load or ping anything, but it's sorted now. Looks like it was a Cape Town problem.

Your connection still screwed AcidRazor?

Tried Afrihost and everything was fine and dandy. They gave me a free gig so I was like "schweet" but then I noticed I queued up about 16gb's worth of distros so yea...

BTW, I can't see the ocean from where I am. I'm about 60km outside of the city. Why would you like to know where I live? Stalker much? I reckon "Cape Town" gives you the general idea of where I am as supposed to the GPS coordinates. That way when (nb, when) I do piss you off and you can't type fast enough or break your keyboard out of frustration, won't come to my house and try going Neanderthal (which will fail since I don't take threats). See? It's to protect both of us ;)

Not really. Browsing is fine now and I'm enjoying YouTube without any cuts or having to pause the bloody thing for an hour to view a 3 min clip. So it's kewl, cept for my SFTP session only pushing out 384k speeds and yo-yo-ing

Another MWEB Thread.............................

Get used to it dude. This is the ADSL ISP part of mybroadband, which means you'll most probably see a lot of threads relating to several ISP's, including MWEB.

Yes, how dare you slag off the flavour of the month, hero of the SA interwebz? :p

:wtf::wtf::wtf:

Dear OP. You are not the only one on the internet. Get used to it. Server capacity and how many people download from it usually dictates the speed you'll receive. Not all hosts can afford 1Gbps links to satisfy all the hungry downloaders with 10mb/s lines out there. Thus, some hosts are inclined to LIMIT the rate at which you download if they perceive you as a possible threat that would impact other's experience who might be looking to browse to their site/server.

It's more than likely that this is what is happening.
In response to a guy complaining about 1.5kb/s couple of hours ago.

just saying as it seems that mweb had and still is having issues in the "coastal" areas (kzn/dbn/ct) taking in account all the speed, latency, drops and so on. do you want to haz a stalker ? cause it pretty darn seems so :D
