mweb uncapped -"fair usage"?

@Shayd: True in many cases. At the risk of yet another analogy... MWEB is selling a car that has to drive on roads and go through toll gates which are not managed/maintained by them.
Yeah, but they've narrowed the tollgates to a size smaller than the owners allowed for and then send more cars through without increasing capacity.

I am a happy MWEB customer. Currently this month will do close to 700GB. Could have done more but ran out of things to download. No bypassing shaping. Just use paid hosting sites such as filesonic.

I'm in Cape Town and quite happy. Just don't bypass the shaping (you will know if you are doing it) and your good to go.

Me also a very happy mweb customer and yep once you bypass mwebs shaping you screwed XD

So does that mean mweb is ok for file hosting sites like rapidshare? Or is it only good in the evenings? What sort of speeds do you get before midnight for rapidshare?

how do you bypass mwebs shaping?

It basically means you shouldn't use non-standard ports or encryption when downloading large amounts of data (i.e. Don't download through a VPN or use SSL encrypted ports on news server downloads, etc.)

And for your other question:

RS, torrents and other downloads are HEAVILY shaped even into the early mornng. After that they don't even run at full speed.

I've found that torrents are usually pretty fast during the day, between 100 and 200 kbps, fulll speed late at night and weekends, but usually RS and other similar sites are pretty slow though

I am now very happy with Mweb, i was going to cancel at one point when we had 3days of no international, but then IS would not even authenticate on the DSL network and the forums lit up like a Christmas tree. So i decided to stay put. Then Mweb got some capacity on SAT-3, and it works all the time now... Very Happy...

Keep up the good work guys and remember piss off a few people and and everyone will abandon ship...
