OK, firstly let me start by saying I love my new 4mb uncapped from Mweb.
When I first got it I bought the Square Enix game pack from steam with like 20+ games and have been downloading them non-stop.
Now, however, Steam gives me an error logging in every single day. So I change my account on my router to my Cybersmart account (which is in the process of being cancelled obviously), start up steam and voila! it starts...

So, no, it is not my router or a firewall on my computer... I also have another 4mb uncapped line at my office and Steam does exactly the same thing there...

Now my questions;

1. Is anyone else having this problem?

2. If so, is Mweb blocking the Steam ports at certain times of the day?

3. Are they going to fix it??

My apologies if this has already been brought up, but I could not find a fitting thread about it.

It's an MWEB thing. A friend of mine on mweb uncapped has the same issue.

Bugger... That's going to be really annoying. Well hopefully they have some plan to sort it out because I know quite a few people who won't be happy.

i get no problems with steam on my uncapped 4meg mweb account... downloads at full speed 24/7 and never gives me an error...

I'm on Steam every day all day with my Mweb Uncapped =) Something strange going on there. You could try deleting your clientregistry.blob, sometimes that fixes strange Steam login issues.

Don't listen to this noob: DUDE!@##$%%

He's actually using a Telkom account: [email protected]

chill dude it was just a mistake, i didnt think about that or think it made a difference...
See! even blackhand also probably made the mistake...

EDIT:

Oh and thanks for the Traffic Splitter app i just got it setup now and it works like a charm well done!

Ok, thanks for the replies. Tried deleting clientresgistry and some other steam file that I can't remember, but then it just gets stuck updating. And then login with my cybersmart account and it goes right in... Spoke to Mweb guys and they don't know either. It's really bumming me out :(

yes.. I have exactly the same issue for weeks... If I connect to nexus 100%, but can't login with mweb.. what I did was use my nexus prepaid to logon into steam and then disconnect from nexus and walla use mweb bandwith... (bridgemode)

Yep, 4mb mweb uncapped. Steam is impossible to login to during the day during the week. Evenings its slow but will let me in. Late at night it gets in pretty quickly. So my money is on mweb shaping killing steam during the day.

My Steam is connecting fine now on Mweb 384kbps uncapped. I haven't tried it earlier the week though.

One thing that I've noticed is that Steam often downloads tonnes of stuff (including massive 20MB updates) from international servers during the "Connecting Steam account: xxx..." phase.
So this sometimes takes like 5 minutes on my 384kbps account, because its downloading at like 3kB/s.

Once you've Steam is fully logged in, I can close Steam and open it and it would log in within a couple of seconds.

I have the same issues with Steam. Me and a friend of mine are both on Mweb Uncapped, last week I wasn't able to login to Steam at all, but he could login just fine. Then towards the end of the week I finally managed to login and then he couldn't.

Weird

what realms are you guys on?

as far as i have seen you get the most luck on the SAIX Realm (mweb.co.za) you could try that. If you already are then you gonna have to ask someone smarter :)

Guys: Please remember that during the Connecting Steam account: xxx... phase, Steam is actually downloading stuff from overseas!
If you're running NetLimiter, you'll see that Steam isn't struggling to log in, but its actually downloading stuff!

I'm using the @dslmweb.co.za realm by default and I can log into steam just fine. I was last logged in on Steam this weekend, and it had to download 2MB just now just for the login part!
Now if you're trying to log into Steam during office hours, you might experience very bad shaping and thus only get 4kB/s, causing your Steam to take 10 minutes to log in...

During office hours, steam is hardly able to download anything during the login process (I'm watching the data flow through my Mikrotik RB750G), which then times out after a few minutes and steam wants you to try login again. Pretty much makes it pointless to try login to steam during office hours.

So is it @mweb.co.za or @dslmweb.co.za that there seems to be a problem?
I'm using @dslmweb.co.za and I still haven't had any Steam login problems.

im using @mweb.co.za so i dont think its a realm problem but rather a user specific problem...

on dslmweb.co.za not had any steam issues yet since i deleted my clientregister.blob and let the poor sod update. download region is set to africa/southafrica.

Using 382k uncapped @dslmweb.co.za over here with huge problems.
Wonder if I can use the @mweb.co.za one.

Apparently, using my login details with @mweb.co.za does not even work at all.
