Good Morning joshb, what was the price that was quoted to you on the telephone?

Da 1mb all inclusive for 339 is actually for a 384k line that will be upgraded once telkom starts with the upgrades. so its possible that da price u got quoted is for a 1mb line that will be upgraded to a 2mb line.

On their website, they have this tricky little *, and at the bottom you will see this:

*T&Cs apply: Line speeds quoted are best effort and represent "up to" speeds. Up to 1Mbps upgrade from 384kbps, and up to 2Mbps upgrade from 1Mbps, will be available once Telkom upgrades your exchange as part of a free upgrade process initiated by Telkom. Prices include VAT. Data Only pricing excludes all line rentals. Data + ADSL Line pricing includes ADSL line rental but excludes voice line rental.

Im paying 199 for a 1mbps uncapped account. paying about 300 to telkom for the actual 1mbps line, which is due to be upgraded to 2mbps.

I honesty couldn't be happier with Mweb. do it dude. you wont regret it.

yeah i do on average 100 gig a month on mweb..
in 18 months hardly have had any issues with them... only with the telkom line.
MWeb is well worth it...

I am landing in Cape Town in a months time, and after having a look at the offerings mweb looks the best way to go. Unfortunately for me I am used to having a 8mb uncapped unshapped service, and the home normal usage per month is 20GB. We do not download or upload movies or music, but we do watch online TV.

Now, going from 8mb to 1mb will be hard, but that is not the worse. As there is no much more information online (or I have not found it), would mweb throtle the line the same way as Telkom does? Slow during the day and then speed up at night?

If so, then I will be better on getting a business line, as I will need to work from home, but almost 2k for a line is no joke.
