Hi ...

Afrihost increased their prices on Openserve recently. I am on the 50/50 package which will be around R827

MWEB has the 100/50 for R889.
MWEB does not have an email ticket log system.

I recently had an issue with the line (openserves fault in my area) but the support from Afrihost was terrible. No feedback.

I'm thinking of biting the bullet to MWEB .... what do you think?

I have both active on openserve in CPT northern suburbs. Both has been reliable as believe openserve here is relaible compared to octotel. Mweb has weird routing compared to afrihost so cloudflare traffic goes through JHB if you're in CPT, which means more hops. It only ads about 20ms so if you're not doing anything dependant on latency you won't notice it as there is no loss on the paths. MWEB support does have some email lines dedicated to certain support services but you'll likely need to call in or use the websites ticketing for support. So far I have not had any reason to call support besides some billing queries but I believe that's due to openserve being reliable. Also MWEB does not have IPv6 or free usenet accounts. I have had mweb since 2013 and afrihost since 2020.

MWEBs support is average you just have to know why be specific. It's not horrible like Vox and Webafrica but functional. That being said I will always recommend Afrihost in general because I believe their support takes care of the customer. They also offer the best value while not being the cheapest but also not most expensive. And they have an active forum presence, WhatsApp, Social media, their own forum, etc. Mweb only has a call centre, ticket system and twitter that I have seen as being active.
