I'm not an expert in this field, but merely want to report what I have observed (using the limited tools available to test - actually a real quick-and-dirty test run).
I have a MWeb DSL account (3Gb) as well as an OpenWeb DSL account (3Gb local). My idea was to try and run both by using RouteSentry (on Vista) - but this is another story which I believe after many hours of struggling isn't possible (forum members are quick to advise with an short answer like - "put your modem in bridge mode..." but unfortunately lack a few detailed settings they don't know about).
Anyway, I ran the flawed DoBroadband speedtest by setting up each account in my router (seperate runs of course - a bit of a pain in the back). The test result I found strange.
On Mweb I got 4080 kilobits and 500 kilobytes reading but with OpenWeb only a low 60 kilobytes?
Are the technologies used (or backbone providers) so different that the results could be this different? Also, I know the tool is flawed, but surely this would have impacted on both tests?
Would really like if we have some clever dude to cast some light on this...
