Nice way to 'protect' your users. Blocking seclists.org when things go upside-down is very reminescent of the American/Chinese way of dealing with 'boopsies'. Evidence included:

What most MWEB users who don't know how to get around MWEB's 'lavatory accident' clean up team: http://i.imgur.com/xDgAi.jpg

What other people see who know how to get around their censorship: http://i.imgur.com/ULz94.jpg

Also, learn-to-SHA1 as other people have suggested.

Edit: MWEB unblocked 15 mins later.

I don't recall anywhere in the T&C that MWEB can decide what websites I can go to?

Been there, took a shufty at that list.

That should never have been published... but now the cat is out of the bag.

Interesting that I'm able to go to seclist.org with an mweb account...

Just started going for me as well. Seems they might have unblocked it since results were triple checked.

I dont see the fuss about them blocking that website, it's to protect us (the users whose accounts were posted). In a case such as this, I say block the website. Sure people from all other ISPs can still view the info, but it does help a bit I think?

btw I'm on Afrihost, but I can feel the pain for those poor people lol

Yeah I could not understand it myself. What the hell do they think they doing blocking a security site.

And you'll probably be happy when MWEB decide what else they should protect you from without your consent?

Anyone logging in with those credentials would have given Mweb their phone number - Mweb's legal dept could have some fun phoning and harassing those who are now abusing those accounts.

Well, not really. If I wanted to have a look and search the list to see if my login was compromised and got told I wasn't allowed to i'd be cross. Its like Tracker calling you to ask if your car is being broken into, but then your front door doesn't open for you to have a look-see. Really silly.

Also, censorship is a highly contentious issue in SA, considering our past, I think it is extremely short sighted(?) to go around blocking sites. Regardless of the site in question. And its not like they are blocking the entire internet, people will find the information if they really wanted to.

For once the use of "retards" in the title is justified.

How will blocking that website help mweb customers as anybody not on mweb will be able to access it?
Its won't...PR exercise to hide the embarrassing failure.

o_O Reminds me of a child playing hide&seek by closing its eyes & thinking nobody can see it.

It is really pointless blocking the site. The horse is well and truly out of the stable. Time to man up and deal with the fall-out.

Another day another pwn. You can see how they run things on negrolands.
ISP sekuritY = unskilled noob team + broken webfrontends (made in
india) + missing server certificates + high dsl prices.
Millionaire douchebags get 4mbit fiber and the rest is fckd :(

Seems internationally they do know how bad telecoms are in SA, although that would be better to describe Telkom with
