Hi Guys

Got it for free with an upgrade from MWEB, but is extremely annoying when it drops the connection. Anyone have a fix for this. I'm using MWEB's FON router together with this range extender. I have my desktop connected to the Ethernet port on the extender. About once every hour it drops out for a few minutes. Sometimes I have to reboot the extender.

Im using it for online gaming (soon I will switch directly to fixed line from the router instead of wifi).

Thanks
Chrisn

Good Day Chrisn, are you connected to the router via cable using the device you are gaming on?

If you switch off the extender, do you have the same experience connecting via wifi?

My desktop mobo does not have wifi, hence the Ethernet cable from extender to desktop. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to stop the signal drop outs.

Thanks for the response.

Chrisn are you connecting to the extender or router?

Please test with a cable connection to the router.

Please test with a cable connection to the router.

MWEB Guy

Desktop is connected to the extender via cable. The reason for this is the router and desk top are in different parts of the house. When the signal drops on the extender the router still works fine. I know this because I tested it with my iPad. The iPad picks ups signal from the router when the extender goes down. When this happens the green light next to the signal strength bars goes off on the extender.

Thanks
Chrisn

Afternoon, please test the connection of the extender connected to the router via a wireless connection.

How long is the cable connected to the extender?

Hi
As I mentioned above the connection to the router is fine, except for every 1-2 hours the extender drops out for a few minutes. The Ethernet cable from extender to desk top is 5m.

Got a family member who has the same set up and having the same problem. Luckily for him he picks ups a decent signal all around his house with his FON router only.

Thanks
Chrisn

Thanks for the feedback Chrisn, the extender is meant to repeat the router wifi signal.

Can you please test the wifi connection and discard the cable connection to the extender.

Hi there Mweb Guy

The connection is very bad, not sure if its a line issue. Something went wrong from about 5pm yesterday. Dl is 0.03Mbs and local ping is >120ms. Moved the router around at various points still getting the same result. Cant do much right now untill Mweb resolves the problem. Got a ref number.
