So a couple of weeks ago I sent my boet links to Makerbot's website. Tell him, "I WANT!" ... Today he drops by with this...

Schweeet.... printed 2 parts already (about an hour fifteen minutes each) ... going to make our own 3D scanner!

He built it from scratch, printing with a 0.4mm nozzle, so the finish is not to bad (I've seen some of the rough stuff from makerbot) this is better!

Add the electronics, extruder nozzle and a heated bed, and you're good to go! Or add a laser cutter. Or a CNC mill.

Probably have Win XP drivers, it uses Arduino open source stuff.

My boet has a 1m X 1m cnc lathe with interchangeable heads so he can do all of what you said. Thats how he built my 3D printer. He also built that himself btw....
