My 4mb line

I got my new line yesterday after a very long wait. Been on 384k for more than a year :sick:

Ok now my ADSL is up and working but my phone is completely dead. I expected Telkom to do something wrong. I created a fault and now I have to wait a while for that to be resolved too. But this a side.

Is this good or bad. Or can it be better. Here is 3 speedtest results.

Overall on average its this...

Download Speed: 3455 kbps (431.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 417 kbps (52.1 KB/sec transfer rate)


All ZA speedtest servers though. :)
 
:o I envy you, I can just imagine the speed of YouTube and and other video streamers, not even mentioning software downloads!

You can't imagine how happy I was. I found myself kissing my router at some stage. 442kbs download is a dream.
 
I also had speeds like that in the beginning. It degraded however, and no amount of calls would provide a permanent solution to the problem. I was forced to cancel my ADSL in November, when I only had 100b/s upload speeds, and normal 3Mb/s download speeds. Telkom was unable to help me. I might get 384 again in the near future, but I'm just not willing to pay almost R600 for the "4"Mb line. Hope you have better luck.
 
Is Telkom dumb??? When I ordered my line and they activated it. The disconnected my home phone. I created a fault and yesterday morning they fixed my phone and disconnected my ADSL. Today the fixed the adsl and disconnected the phone. Lucky me I insisted that the technitian make a stop at my house. Then I told him and he fixed it. WTF is Telkom doing? From the 01/01/2009 Ive been struggling.
 
It's a pitty most servers cap their download speeds, I can never download from every site at 400KB/s :(
 
Today they disconnected my phone and adsl again! So on my way to telkomdirect I pass the exchange and a technition stands there. I pull over and ask her wtf is the problem. She replies "I'm not sure if I'm working on your line but it could be" OMG. 3 hours later Telkom phones me on my cell saying my adsl should work. Nothing. So they send out another telkom guy and he fixes the problem for the 6th time this month. God dammit wtf is telkom's problem?
 
lol my 4mb line should be activated tomorrow, at least I dont care about the phone line part :)

R 350 pm for 4mb line excluding line rental woot
 
pulled the sp 1 for vista in about 40 minutes, just over a gig, so very schweet, and as I tell my jealous mates, don't hate the player, hate the game:D

I've been on a 384k line for nearly a year, and just the other day I called Telkom and asked for an upgrade to the 4meg line. The lady I spoke said that they would send a techie around "in a few days".

Within 20 minutes my line was already syncing at 4096K instead of 384K!!!

I know lots of people love to hang onto resentment for Telkom, and I have too in the past, but this kinda service has crushed my previous resentment for Telkom. My faith in Telkom is restored now. I am proud to be a customer of theirs.


...P.S. They called me a couple days after and said everything had been done their side, so I didn't even have to wait for a techie to pay me a visit to finish the upgrade. I was so stoked! I'm now pushing about 425 kBytes/sec download :D. MUCH better than the 38kB I was getting before. :sick:
