I applied for dsl on the 05 of May via the internet and my application was strangely cancelled for no REAL reason. (Joys of Telkom)

To try find out the reason and reapply i went to the local Telkom shop and found out all the info on why and what will happen etc. The lady helping me was brilliant, was help full, got the new application done and put me on a SPECIAL list, she then told me i will (notice the WILL) get a phone call on probably Tues or Wed at latest from her finding out when a techie can come install. I am freakin amazed that she said all this. Hope it will come true! :P

I want to hear about your success stories. POST ALONG!

I ordered my adsl, took them 2 weeks to do performance testing. They finally do the tests and i phone them only to find out my "exchange is full", so i told the techie off because upgrades were done to my exchange not longer than 4 months ago. He all of a sudden "remembers" that my exchange is possibly not full. He apparently emails this other lady who is in order of the exchanges and she was supposed to get back to me yesterday or today, and i have heard nothing from her. I ordered the adsl 3 weeks ago and i still can not confirm whether they are going to come install it or not.

Another success story courtesy of our local monopolised telecomms provider, Telkom.
 
Yeah, the special list is the used napkin from her double cheese burger lunch. The only chance you have of actually getting anything out of her is if the napkin sticks to her shoe on the way to the toilet so she remembers to enter your details when she gets back to her desk...good luck. I'm also waiting for a DSL installation, but i'm not on the special list. I think they used my application to clean up the blood that poured out of my ears when they asked me if a want a 24 month contract.
 
well, i have spoken to 5-7 techies so far, have gotten their names, what they have told me, just so i can refer back to it if someone starts telling me crap. I've had troubles with Telkom before, so I have learnt my lesson, they tried to tell me that there is a "project" happening at our exchange which should be done on 31 July... Very coincidental that it will be done the day before Telkom releases their new pricing structure...

I wish they would just provide a decent service instead of leading us along for months on end.
