So by 9pm South African time, I may very well be eating my words, or Antowan will be owing me another beer for getting it right!
Name:
iPad, although the worst conceivable name, seems to be the most likely name for the new Apple Tablet. If I am wrong I will be oh so happy! iSlate seems a little less Apple-like and doesn’t really fit the image, but it may be an outside possibility.
Design:
Looks to me like we can expect a 10 inch/A4 page sized tablet with ports and headphone jack all available at the back of the body. I would imagine that the most functional option would be for the tablet to double as a monitor. In other words, dock the tablet and use your wireless mouse and keyboard when you’re in the office, and when you are out, the iPad [ugghh I hate that name] works just like a super sized iPhone.
Functionality:
I expect the Tablet to run on an extrapolation of the iPhone OS, with apps portable between both products. The touch screen [most likely OLED] may possibly come with full multi-touch functionality. If so, it will mean a huge leap forward! 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth and the like will come standard I’m sure.
Other:
There seems to be a possibility of iPhone OS 4.0 as there are rumours of registered developers getting their hands on it tonight and the rest of us waiting a few weeks. Outside chance but possible.
So, now we’ll just have to wait and see…
